ferret-proof cages

I am looking to get a C&C cage big enough for 3 to 4 piggies... Well i have thought about the spacing of the bars (about 1.5 inches) and if that is just too big allowing a ferret to enter the cage? Presently the only room in our home that can house a cage of this size is the "ferret" room. Is there another kind of piggy cage that is of this size that has, say,... 1 inche spaces between bars? I would hate to purchase the C&C cage if my ferrets could get into it so I do not want to take that chance. Also I would like a cage that has a plastic bottom and high sides to prevent bedding from flying everywhere. Does anyone make custom cages that have the smaller spacing of the bars?

I am not positive but I think you can get them double barred with the cage grids over lapped! Look in the picture gallery for cage safety!
Good Luck!

Re: ferret-proof cages

I'm not totally positive but I'm pretty sure that people make C&C cages for ferrets so I would assume that the bar spacing keeps ferrets in so it should keep them out.

Re: ferret-proof cages

I ended up building my own cage out of one inche spaced white wire shelving used for shelves inside closets, etc. You can get it at Home Depot and they will cut it to your specs. I made a cage of about 12 square feet (slightly less than that) . It has one big door at the top. The piggies love it although it is only 1 ft. high so Louis cannot jump on top of his house anymore unless he wants to get stuck but it is huge and much much bigger than the cage before.
