Chewing Coroplast

My GPs like to chew on the coroplast, so far they've just scraped off bits of the duct tape used to secure the corners. I try and distract them when they do this, but they can be pretty persistent sometimes...

I just plopped in an extra piece of coro on the floor in a "tent" formation, and a cracker box hoping to distract their chewing to something more appropriate...

Is chewing the coro and duct tape safe for them?

edited to add:
I've read that plain paper, like printer paper, is fine for them to chew on and may be a boredom buster if crumpled up into a ball. Is this true? I just tossed in two balls of paper and they think it's gold!

Re: Chewing Coroplast

I acctually came onto this board to ask the same question. My bf is conserned that if I make a C&C cage that they will eat the coroplast because they like to chew. So, any help?

I know when my old piggy Neo was chewing on the sides of his store bought cage (before I knew better) We got him a bird bell the hung down so he could chew on that, he was rather delighted that it made noise... and quickly learned that if he heard the fridge door open and he rang the bell someone would bring him a carrot...

Re: Chewing Coroplast

i think that if you leave them enough to chew on (hay, toys, w/e) they will not chew on the coroplast. just my opinion though, im still in the research phase of these guys.
