Spray Paint I am rebuilding my cage and I am changing it from white to black. I use white wire shelving for a lid. It looks like I will only be using one piece now but it is so loud on the black. Would it be OK to spray paint it black if I don't put it back on the cage for a few days (dry time). The pigs would not come into contact with it, I am just thinking smell.

Re: Spray Paint Here's a link that might help. I know it's using birds as an example, but it might be a place to start -- Bird-safe Paints I would say that child-safe paints would probably do the trick (I'm no expert so don't take that as definite). Like, what you'd use to paint a baby's crib or whatnot. Sometimes paints can take more than a few days to dry throughly and not emit any more fumes. Just because humans can't smell them doesn't mean the pigs won't be able to. Considering cavy lungs are a lot smaller than human ones, I'd say it wouldn't take much to damage them. I'd leave it for a week before I replaced it, to err on the side of safety.

Re: Spray Paint Do you think I can get pet safe paint at the local home depot? I have 2 pieces so I can paint one while using the other for a week or more and switch. Thanks.

Re: Spray Paint You probably could but it depends on the home depot I guess. Every place is different.
