No. Even assuming that those dimentions are the internal ammount of space and I doubt they are (47 * 22) / 144 = 7.18 sq/ft. This is pretty close to the 7.5 sq/feet for ONE guinea pig. 13 sq/ft is recomended for three.

A size chart can be found on the home page.

Yes Re: Is This Cage Big Enough For Three Pigs?

Hi, thanks for your response. We currently have a 4 x 2 C & C cage, but wanted to simplify. I wish there was a "commercial" cage out there that was already put together, completely enclosed, on wheels, with a nice big "little box tray" type bottom. I had a feeling that that wasn't going to be big enough. It is difficult for my daughter to clean the cage we have. We have to have it high enough off the ground so that my dogs don't give the our babies a heart attack. I help her clean it, but she has been complaining that the litter and hay are always on the floor. (I complain about that too.) Is there a neater way to keep these little guys?? Any suggestions would be great.

One word: FLEECE!

Wonderful stuff. Easy to keep up with and oh so not messy (except for the poos and a some stray hay strung out). See The Fleece Project: The Study and also Fleece Types and Debates for almost anything you might ever want to know about it. Anything you don't understand or they don't mention, just ask.

But don't downgrade their cage. How high is it currently? If you switch to a grid base and put a lid on it, that would lower it some and keep the dogs out of it. Mine has a grid base and the top of the cage comes to my thighs. (I am 5 ft.)

You could make the coroplast walls higher this might cut down on what is thrown out of the cage. Although if you put up 12" coroplast walls I don’t think the piggies could stand up and look out. I’m not sure what it would do to their general mood limiting what they can look at. It will not stop everything from being kicked out. When my piggies get rambunctious they can really kick up the aspen shavings. But I have 12" coroplast on the sides of the cage that face to walls to limit the amount of stuff that get kicked to the sides of the cage that I have to move to clean.

Re: Is This Cage Big Enough For Three Pigs?

I have the cage on two levels of grids which I've made into a "storage" area. Then the cage. The sides are approximately 6". I think that if I go any higher, my pigs would be upset and not be able to see out. My corr is black. I was thinking of getting a resin table and put it on there. My daughter keeps her stuff under the cage in the make shift shelves and there's poop, shavings and hay in all her things. It's kind of gross and it smells to high heaven. I have three dogs and one of them, Chelsey, a shih-tzu mix, thinks she's a jack-rabbit. She can jump pretty high. I don't think she would hurt them, but I had a hamster that got out of his habitrail and the dogs played with him to death. A very sad time in the lives of my children, if ya know what I mean. I can put it lower and put a cover on it made of grids, but cleaning time is a major drag... I will have to invest in fleece. Where can I get it. Any local store?? Or, it it available easier online?? Thanks for the input.

Re: Is This Cage Big Enough For Three Pigs?

You can get many patterns and a variety of solid colors of fleece at any fabric store. It's usually on sale this time of year. Fleece you'll find is much easier to maintain - you just change the cage once a week and vaccuum (using a small hand vac like a dirt devil) the poops every day. I built a second level hayloft (see my photos) and also put their littler box up there below the hayloft. That way the hay doesn't stick to the fleece and I can change the litter portion more often if I like (they seem to pee in there the most lucky me).

Re: Is This Cage Big Enough For Three Pigs?

Fleece is truly a lifesaver. I just got more at hancock fabricks last week. Be sure you get enough for two (or more) sets so that you do not have to wait while it washes and then dries; that is another lifesaver!

Re: Is This Cage Big Enough For Three Pigs?

I say go for the fleece, it is wonderful and looks good. If you are in the US JoAnns Fabrics has fleece on sale right now. You should also go to one of your local stores and buy a cotton mattress pad to put under the fleece.
Take a look at this thread and you can get a lot of good info.

I also suggest buying a small hand held vac (think dustbuster) so that you can just have your daughter suck out the poops every day.
