Grid paint We purchased our grids from Costco and our in the process is aquiring everything we need to build, have a white paint type substance on them. Is it ok if the boys chew on it? One of our pigs chews on the side of their cage now. It is a store bought 2' x 3' cage. We really do realize that it is becoming increasingly smaller every day for the boys. I know I am getting more excited to have it done, I really can't image how excited they will be.

Re: Grid paint My rabbits will occasionally chew on the white grids. Even though some of the paint comes of, it doesn't seem to affect them. My guess is that the same is true for guinea pigs.

Re: Grid paint I have never heard of a guinea pig being harmed by cage chewing. It should be fine. However, in the larger cage, you will probably find that they don't chew as much, at least not on the cage! One of my girls thinks she is a beaver, she chews her companions hair, (they are long hairs and apparently she thinks that is odd and they need help, being short haired herself! Try some organic Apple wood chews in the cage, toilet paper rolls (cut down the side) and of course, make sure they have unlimited grass hay! That is really important. If for any reason, my pigs run out, that when the majority of the chewing happens. It is not often, but when it does happen, Watch out!
