Is this ok/safe or bottom supports?

The table that I have the new 2x4 cage on is too small for the width of the cage (2 grids). It sticks out by about 8 inches. My piggies seem fine running around the cage. In the picture, the blue arrow is where the table's edge is. Is this ok/safe or does it need more support on the bottom? If it does, what can I put?

I have a 2x3 bottom level with an L shaped 1x3 upper level sitting on two three drawer plastic bins. The center of the cage is not supported (about 1 grid) and it doesn't seem to affect anything. I did put grid under the coroplast for added support just to be sure. I have seen my girls race around like fiends and never have a problem. I would think the set up you have is fine. The grids I used say it can support 50 lbs and even with two piggies in there, it is not even close to being 50 lbs.

Maybe you can move the table out some and balance the overage so that rather than 8" out front, you have 4" in the front and back. That would probably cause it to be less likely to have a problem.

It should be ok, but I agree that you should even out the areas hanging off the edge. That would reduce the chance of something bad happening, but I think it should be ok for now. Good luck! =) Oh, and a word of caution about the houseplant: although it looks nice, make sure it is safe for the piggies in case a leaf falls off or they reach it accidentally. Just a thought. =)

I so wish I could see the picture in this thread, but alas I cannot. I have the same kind of question and think I know the answer based on some of the responses here, but let me ask anyway.

I'm building a 58" x 29" (4x2) C&C cage and wanted to put it on a table that measures 47" x 23". So if I evened out how the cage hangs off the table, There would be roughly 5-1/2" hanging off each side lengthwise and 3-1/2" hanging off widthwise. Would this work to support the cage safely?

HI, Im also getting a larger cage 28 x 71 and am going to put it on an existing rolling cart that came with my previous cage which measures 20 x 40. Now thats a big big difference. Im going to home depot to get a square piece of wood 30 x 73 and am going to put it ontop of the cart and some how secure it. Maybe drill some holes thru the top of the wood and use rope to tie it around the legs of the cart. then i will put the new cage on top of that. Hope it works or Im in trouble.

you could buy extra grids and make a grid bottom, that way you have shelves underneath

I need a cart that rolls because they are in my bedroom in front of my closet and dresser and I have to be able to move them away when I want to get into my clothes. We have a very tight squeeze here.
