Hello All

I dont have any piggies yet, but I have been trying to come up with a plan for my cage when I do get them. The cage will defantly have to be cat proffed!

My plan right now is to have a solid top with a door on the front. So I was just wondering if this would work:

I have a board on top of the cage(the full size of the top) with some padding and maybe a fleece blanket on top so that my cats could sit on top of the cage but not be able to get at the piggies and the piggies cant see the cat. If you dont really understand kinda like http://www.cavycages.com/photos/data...2cage_1072.jpg but bigger and with a board underneath it.

Just wondering if this is possible and if the cage would be able to support that kind of weight, and would I need to support the top with something, and if it is actually possible to do.

I'm pretty sure the cube grids could support that weight, but it would make the cage rather dark inside. Why would you not want the piggies to see the cat? As long as he can't get at them, they should be safe. Besides, unless they don't look out the sides of the cage, they'll see him eventually anyway.

You'd be depriving you pigs of the fun that is gloating while they munch down on yummy hay the cat's aren't allowed to eat.

I have cats and dogs. I built C&C cages, one for my boars, one for my sows. I used shelving that has a lip on it and it works perfect for opening and closing. My sows are 2x6, the boars 3 x 4. I got the shelving at Home Depot. I do believe it comes 2 feet to 6 feet long. My cats don't even try to go on the top. The grids and shelving won't support their feet and they find it difficult to walk on, so they stay off. My dogs don't even bother.
