Potential Dangers in using Wallpaper Borders?

Does anyone know if wallpaper borders could be toxic to guinea pigs? After seeing some examples in the photo gallery which have done the same, I've put up a wallpaper border along the inner wall of the coroplast cage in an effort to make the place a little homier for the piggies. Though I was careful in adhering it in such a way to prevent the girls from chewing it away, the clever rascals somehow already managed to gnaw away at some of the border.

I've tried spraying down the particularly vulnerable areas with Bitter Apple but it's been marginally successful. I'm concerned about the possible health risks this may imply; I'm hoping someone here could enlighten me.

Bottomline, wallpaper borders are best left as decoration on the outside, not inside.

I don't think it's going to hurt your pig, but over time, it's going to get ugly. Some of the cute photos of some the theme cages are misleading in the wear over time.

I think the people with the inner wallpaper boarders use clear plexiglass on top to keep little piggie teeth from nibbling on it.

I think your pigs may like the bitter apple an old friend of mine sprayed it on her baseboards to stop her rabbits biting at them, unfortunately the rabbits loved the bitter apple and the baseboards didn't fair so well!

To be frank, our little pigs are indifferent to beautiful thing. But they can’t live without: good food, good rest and our love. We love our pets, and if we want improve its home, it MUST be safe for its health.
