I dont know why he does this, but regardless of all the chew things I have in the cage, he will NOT stop knawing at the edges of the coroplast. At first I thought it was tough enough to stand up to it, but recently I've noticed that he is doing some good work. Im not seeing the piecing in the cage either, so i am very affraid the he is ingesting them. Im not asking if this is "safe" or not because it is very obviously NOT, but I am just wondering if anyone elses pigs are doing this too , and what ideas you may have to stop this?

If you happen to know a folder that's made of plastic and uses a plastic "spine" to hold them together. Here in the Philippines we call them 'sliding folder' since we slide this "spine" to hold the plastic cover and the contents of the folder together. Use the spine on the edges of the cp so that they can't chew it. I'll find that pic on of Teresa's cage that uses that.

Its good that you knew what I was trying to say. Also Teresa posted that you can rub vinegar on the edge but I think that would give you an ugly odor.

Also, please make sure you have lots of hay in the cage. That's the number one thing to make sure they have plenty of HAY to chew. Chew toys are useless. They generally don't 'chew' on them. Make sure they also have a wooden structure or two (like a wooden hidey house) in their cage for help with their incisors. You can also run a wooden dowel down the length of the cage where they are chewing at the height of the edge of the Coroplast. That gives them wood to chew on instead and will break the habit.

The notebook edge protectors are in office supply stores. Wooden doweling is in any home improvement store. Which item are you asking about?
