My dog, Max, just passed away....

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I'm very sad! He was 18 years and 8 months old! We came home from a 2 day camping trip and found him dead. He had had a stroke or heart attack the previous nite. My dad's best friend was taking care of him at the time and felt horrible. But he was so old, it was going to happen soon. He died peacfully and happily in his sleep. We're going to miss you Max. Or as we called him, pudgey crumpet.

Sorry to hear about your sweet friend. 18 and a half is a very respectable age for a dog to reach and I'm sure it is a reflection of devoted and loving care. Take heart in knowing that he probably waited for you to leave so that he could slip out of this world. It's strange the way our pets will do that. It's like they want to spare us watching them leave us if possible.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, especially a dog who's been with you for so long, but you have to remember that this dog probably couldn't have asked for a better life, especially if he lived that long.

18 years? omg, thats a long time, my dog passed away when he was 15! if the dog lived that long, he must of had a very happy live , sorry for you man.

I can't stand the thought that someday I'll have to give up my own doggy. He's already three but he acts just like the little puppy we got him as.

I'm very sorry about you losing Max. I know dogs can be some of the best friends as person can have. I recently lost one of my piggies.

Im so sorry for your loss. But think of it this way, 18 years is a long life for a dog. Think of what a wonderful life he had living with you. It's hard, but once you realize all of the wonderful memories you had with him, it'll be easier to cope with. He's lived such a great life, and he's lucky to have such a caring owner.
