Help stop dog fighting and animal cruelty!

I was just at the vet today with my beagle-mix, Maxi(she's got kennel cough) when my eye caught sight of a pamphlet on the counter. It read: "STOP animal cruelty! Dog fighting is a crime!". I read the rest and apparently a website is shipping( only in the U.S.) Magnetic ribbons that say "stop animal cruelty!" and "dog fighting is a crime!". The profits from these magnetic ribbons( which cost $8.00 each or $15.00 for two, including S&H. The ribbons are different designs. I bought two.) go towards surgery for previously abused dogs and fightings pit's. I thought this was a magnificent idea and decided to share it with all of you guys. To order go to www.helpsavepitbulls.com. Also, the story of the beautiful dog that started this fund raiser is at www.tricountyanimalrescue.net/gypsy.aspx. Just a warning, there are a few pictures at the bottom of that page that are graphic(taken after they found gypsy) and contain some material that might upset some people. Also, I found a video online that also has some graphic material( more graphic than gypsy's page) about pit bulls and pit bull fighting. It brought me to tears and has a wonderful impact. To see the video, go to www.ricas.org/pitflash.swf. Thanks for reading this far into the post and sorry for the wall of text! Please support this wonderful fund to save more dog's lives!

Re: Help stop dog fighting and animal cruelty!

I originally saw those pictures of poor Gypsy on a dog message board. I was horrified at first. It looked like something straight out of a horror movie. I can't even imagine what makes someone so cruel. Thanks for the ribbon info.

Re: Help stop dog fighting and animal cruelty!

If someone here doesn't think that they can take the video or they can't get it to work here, I just want to tell you one thing it says in the video( quoted by a Chicago Police officer. By the way, this quote might make you ashamed to be a human being.):
Quote:
One fifth grader, describing to me in graphic detail a pit bull fight to which his uncle took him, told me that when the losing dog urinated and defecated upon itself before it died, he was the only one in the crowd who did not explode with laughter.

Re: Help stop dog fighting and animal cruelty!

I am usually not one to become emotional, not that I don't care, nothing like that, but simply because I never really was one to express my emotions much. But that video literally forced the tears from my eyes. Like DocDolittle said, this did make me ashamed to be a human. How can such horrible things be allowed to happen? It just isn't right. Some of the most wonderful dogs I know are pitbulls, in fact my great aunt has the sweetest little pit bull named Blue. She is more loving than any dog I've ever seen besides my own. To think about why any vile person could ever force an animal to do things such as that is completely beyond me.
