I could just cry. I just heard on the news that they had enuthanize 30 cats to make room for some of the 100+ cats found at this lady's home (located in the city I live in). Here's the story: http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/du...l/12309317.htm I am so upset. What makes me feel worse is I can't take one in. We already have 3, and one of the boys sprays at the scent of another cat (lost a section of our family room carpet and molding to find this out). I just started helping out a local cat foster program, but I don't feel that is enough for this situation. I noticed on the news that they were housing the cats in pet taxis. I was thinking about calling and letting them use a couple of ours. I have to do something, although it sounds like it is too late for the cats that were already at the shelter. I am just sick about that. ![]()

Re: 100+ cats found at West Duluth (MN) home So sad, it is horrible that more people can not adopt cats. I know that our shelter euthanizes more than 60% of their cats. It is a sad situation that could be taken care if people would just neuter their pets.

Re: 100+ cats found at West Duluth (MN) home I can sympathize. The shelters in Woodland and Silicon Valley are going to be euthanizing rabbits because they have too many. One of them is going to be put down simply because her spay went bad, and the shelter workers don't have the time to keep up with her Baytril shots and post-op care. It's incredibly depressing to read about perfectly good animals being put down simply because they exist and are taking up space; I've been crying over those poor rabbits for most of tonight. As someone told me tonight, if people insist on breeding in order to show their children the miracle of life, they should take them into the back room of shelters to show them the miracle of death as well. It's not all about cutesy-wutesy babies; there's hurt and suffering and tears, too. Last edited by PrincessOfMars : 08-06-05 at 12:14 am. Reason: clarification
