Help me!

I know, I know - do you remember my post saying that I was going to Egypt? Well that idea has gone through the window and have all the others (Dubai, Malaysia).

Last week, after weeks of confusion and arguments, I decided that I would go to India alone My brother refuses to go with and my parents are going in December to attend a wedding and therefore cannot go now. Problem is, is that all the "cheap" flights (I say "cheap" because even they are £400+) are fully booked which is what I expected. There is one flight called Air Slovakia and none of us have ever been on it. By the sounds of it, it seems like a dodgy flight. I REALLY want to go to India, but should I risk it and go on this one? This flight is really my only chance. This is the first time I'm travelling alone and bear in mind I'm 16 - are we worrying too much? I have tried to do my research on the internet, but have not had much luck. I need to book the tickets pronto because I need my injections (a WHOLE new story! I hate them

Re: Help me!

I don't know if it would be safe for you to go alone. It is a dangerous world out there. Not trying to scare you, but just be safe!!

Re: Help me!

If your travelling to visit someone in India and just have to fly alone, then go for it. If you plan on travelling in India alone, you stay home, girl! I bet you are going to stay with friends or family? You seem to be pretty level headed. Arm yourself with as much info as possible and don't talk to strangers. You only live once!

Re: Help me!

Oh no, I would be too scared to travel alone! A lot of my family lives there, including my grandparents, so I will be staying with them. The thing I'm worried about, is that this flight has a stop over in Slovakia. If it were non stop then I would just hop on and not worry. My mums stressed about it and she is not letting me go on it. But it's my only chance! We have phoned several travel agents, including one in the morning, but everything is sold. Meh

Re: Help me!

Find out what kind of stop over it is. Sometimes they keep you with the people in your flight. My friend had a stop over for a few hours up here on his way to Quebec and I didn't find the bugger. He emailed me the next day from Quebec and let me know what happened. They had him in a room off to the side with the rest of his flight. All the emenities, just no contact with people outside the room. Unless you bring a cell phone or have a blackberry of course.

Re: Help me!

A blackberry?

I'd say go for it.

(Says the woman who's mortally afraid of flying and won't go anywhere near a plane. Not even on the ground)

Re: Help me!

I admit going alone would be a bit scary. I went to Toronto on my own for 3 months working while I was a student aged 18. I would go for it as long as someone will meet you at the other end. You'll have the time of your life

Re: Help me!

Thanks everyone! For one last time, I am going to the travel agents. We are going to check if there have been any cancellations for other, decent flights. Please cross your fingers for me! I want to go SO badly for several reasons - primarily because my grandmum is in her 90's and she is quite ill. She bought me up because my parents had to work and I want to see her.

Re: Help me!

Hooray! Good for you! You'd better go and pack then, if you're going so soon!

Have a great time on your holiday then; I'll have a 1 or 2 week break from this site as I move on the 18th. Unless, of course, I can find an Internet Cafe place over there, in which case I can find out how your holiday went etc. without having to wait for 4 days before removals deliver our stuff.

I'm too addicted to this site, that's my problem!!

Re: Help me!

Thank you! Oh yes, I havn't started properly packing yet! I went shopping today and bought all my holiday clothes, so I'll do it tonight. I'm addicted as well, especially because it's the summer holidays. I still can't believe you are moving so far away! It must feel like some sort of holiday :P

There's as couple if internet cafe's near my house in India, so I'll come on here once in a while to talk to everyone. I'll probably be so sunburnt that I can't even type though, he he. My grandad said it's over 40C. Eek!
