Oh my gosh yes! This was on guinea lynx! It's fun because if you know an exact address, it zooms right to the house! It's very powerful.

Re: Google Earth

Silly me - I started downloading it, waiting for ages. Turns out we already have it on our computer! It is amazing slap. I typed in my town but it was very blurred, but when we typed in somewhere else it was so clear. Laura, I've got to go now but if I get time later I'll try to find your house!

Re: Google Earth

I haven't downloaded that, but I have played around with their online satellite mapping. Very cool stuff.

Re: Google Earth

The reason some places are blurry is because they are very rural. My town for example, is barely viewable.

Re: Google Earth

I can't make anything out at all in my town. However, I was most impressed by the clarity of some - I can get a clear picture of the tall ship I worked on for 3 months in Toronto!

Re: Google Earth

Slap or anyone else
I am stuck with a terrible computer with dial-up connection where I am. Can someone please look up my house on Google Earth and save/post the picture for me?

My home's address is 619 Mandeville st, New Orleans Louisiana 70117

Even if it's really bad, I still need to know. My house is rectagular with a flat white roof so it should be easily visible. It is set back off the street with a 4 car parking lot out front. There should be only one car in the lot, a burgundy Honda Accord.

Re: Google Earth

Voodoo- unfortunetily Google Earth is not live. Let me look on one website with live shots. I am hoping for the best.

Re: Google Earth

Thanks Slap. Anything you can find may help. The one satelite image I found was ok. I could see my home and it appears to be still standing but I can't see details at all. There may or may not be a large tree on my house. Inquiring minds need to know.

Re: Google Earth

Unfortunetily the up to date shots had your house lying right where I couldn't see it, however, it looks very good. They whole area your house in appears to be very dry. The first picture is your house on Google Earth, the second shows your area (top middle). The brown is dry and the green is flooded.

Re: Google Earth

OK, here are some more. In the first, your area is on the middle top, and on the second it is the middle bottom.

Sorry, I can't get anything closer.

Re: Google Earth

Slap, Thank you. In the first picture you posted that is the best shot I've seen. You can actually see my house clearly. The mapping got it wrong. It's not in the crosshairs but is the large white rectangle near the very top of the screen above the 619.

Are you sure that picture is post Katrina? I think it must be because I don't see enough cars parked on the street but I want to make sure.

Re: Google Earth

No, Google Earth isn't live, I used it as a reference for finding your house.
