I need help designing the loft to my 2x4. I only have 24 grids to use I think.

You could do a 1x4 loft if you have enough grids....

That wouldn't work because then the ramp would be too steep. You could do a nice L shaped loft.

Oops, I think I have like 28 grids that I can use. EDIT--> Nope only 26. *shrugs*

I was thinking a 1x4x1/L shaped one. That'd take 24 grids? So I have extra. Hmm..I'll count my grids again. BTW, the cage needs to be closed and I don't have linen shelving. And I'm limited on zipties too(can't buy more because they're EXTREMELY expensive here).

I use fleece and puppy pads for bedding. What should I use for the loft? How does carpeting work? Do you just wash it when it's soiled or replace it fully.

That's not going to work - your ramp will have to fit into a space that is one grid wide. Carpet is very hard to wash so I don't recommend using it. Why don't you carry on using fleece?
