OK Lady, Why Do You Need 15 Yellow Bell Peppers?

So my dad was out today and he called to see if I needed anything for the Piggies.

Well, I happened to need a Bell Pepper. So I told him and he said he would get me one.

He goes into the local grocery store, and pushes a cart over to the Yellow Bell Peppers. There is a lady standing there I guess, and she takes a bag and fills it with as many bell peppers as possible. (about 8)

Well, she gets ANOTHER bag and does the same thing until all the Bell Peppers are gone. This is literally like 15 Bell Peppers. My dad says "Oh ma'am I am so sorry but could I have one of those Bell Peppers? Y'see, my son has 2 Guinea Pigs and he needs one for them......." And the lady started laughing.

She said "Well, believe it or not I understand about shopping for Piggy food. These are for my Guinea Pigs! I raise Guinea Pigs!"

So I thought that was hilarious when he told me that. But because she says she "raises" Guinea Pigs, does that make her most likely a breeder? Sounds like it to me.

Breeder or not though, I think the story is still funny.

You never know she could just rescue and foster piggies. I have to pick up a fair few bell peppers when I go into shops now to feed 6 piggies. Not as many as that, but still

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one buying peppers in bulk. My family eats lots of them and my piggies love them too.

I get some really weird looks in the store when I go through the trash can by the corn picking out the best husks for my girls.

I'm hopeful she rescues them. Wonder how many breeders would spend their money on bell peppers and other fresh food?

I have a feeling that some breeders out there, will have a change of heart and become rescues instead(it could happen). So many more piggies would get the homes they deserve, with all the love and attention to.

I am a cashier, so I have long since learned to not question the strange purchases! I quite often see one lady come through with corn husks, carrot tops, etc and sheepishly explain that it's for her guinea pigs. I wonder if she's a member here!

louie_joey that defintely sounds like a piggie owner and like someone from here or guinealynx dont think any other source would suggest that stuff for piggies

I always get funny looks when I have to explain to cashiers that I have just corn husks, NO actual corn It's funny to watch there expression.

I live in Florida and we have Publix's and I'll just pick a bunch and with our purchase we just get the husks for free.

They never have a bin of corn husks at my store. I keep hoping that one will show up. My piggies love corn husks.

You should call your store and ask them! I know I love having one at my store just dig and go!
