Not a Breeder, Right?
This isn't a breeder, right? I've really been wanting an abby and it's a baby so I'm going to show my Dad A.S.A.P. but I wanted to be sure beforehand.

Re: Not a Breeder, Right?
Uuummmm. This sounds kinda sketchy. Usually knowing the coloring and markings so well is a sign of a seasoned guinea pig owner. And accidental pregnancies don't happen to often for those who aren't actually trying to have pregnancy pigs. And she said "They are $15 each" and not really a rehoming few. It's a little iffy to me.
I would email her first and just ask how many litters the mother has had or how many the parent has a year or something to that extent or just plain ask her if she is a breeder.

Doesn't look like a breeder to me... more like an oops litter. You could try contacting her to get more info about the parents, but I don't think this is a breeder.

Re: Not a Breeder, Right?
I am by NO MEANS an expert, in fact I am very novice when it comes to pigs, however...the one line about be willing to meet in a public place concerns me. I understand that it's craigslist and the person posting needs to be cautious but that just seems like a red flag to me. And asking $15 each - ?? My advice is to ask a lot of questions and go with your gut instinct.

My honest opinion:
If you have to ask if it is a breeder, don't trust them.

I think you might be ok. I would ask they though. Asking 15 dollars might be just to ensure they are not snake food. Also due to the fact they are not sure of the sex shows they probably do not know. But if any of them are boys, then they have a chance of breeding already due to being over a month old...

Re: Not a Breeder, Right?
Just ask them if this was an accident or if she is a breeder. Most people aren't going to shy from that question regardless of which side of the fence they are on. Just don't let her know what you want her to be so she can't lie. With an ad like that it could be either. Hard to say.

Re: Not a Breeder, Right?
I don't think it's a breeder, and meeting in a public place is only being safe. I don't know that I'd want some stranger knowing where I live, since I live alone. I think it sounds like an accidental pregnancy, or maybe she just got the pig, then realized it was pregnant.
