I'm freakin out!

Ah there's something in my garage chewing on my stuff...........Ahhhhhh
I was out there and I thought one of my piggies had got out there for a sec but went back inside, checked,, nope they were in the cage.. Akkk I can hear the teeth chewing its so loud.... Im freaking out....
I've got the door shut and I'm about 20 foot from it with the tv on and typing on keyboard here and I can hear it over all that..

It may be a rat, I'm in Australia and there's no raccoon's here although they fasinate me, seen them on documentary's. It was too noisy to be a mouse so I'm guessing a rat. I keep all the hay and pellet's out there so maybe thats what has attracted it.. the hubby has gone now to get a trap..I still havn't gone back out there cos I can't see it hehehe..

Funnily enough, I can handle snake's, spider's and lot's of other things but mice/rats freak me out!

Strange. In the summer, I always get bats in my family's house. Sometimes, there are squirles(sp) and birds in our garage. But I do n't care, they won't hurt me.

Well I would probally be the same but we are allway's out there, it's literally just out off my dining room...(garage under roofline, not seperate shed type) and my kid's play out there all the time, and because it's so close to living area's I can hear it in several rooms in the house! Grrr....
I will feel bad baiting a trap but I don't want my kid's bitten or something.

No, never seen it, that's why I'm assuming it's a rat,..anything bigger and I would have seen like a possum,, noise was too loud for a mouse.

Maybe you could call animal control or something to see what is in there. Or if I were you, I would just put a laundry basket over my head, get a net, get a bat, and go in. But that's just me.

I'm 99.9% sure it's a rat so no laundry basket needed but you made me laugh~!

Lol, well that good that I made you laugh. Have you done anything with the rat yet? Or looked out in the garage to see where is it?

It didn't take the bait,..Grrr..I've got 2 traps set but as yet nothing.

Nothing against you, but I feel bad for the rat/mouse that's in there. I don't understand why you don't like them so much, when there are many physical similarities between them and guinea pigs.... maybe you can just capture whatever it is and let it loose somewhere?
I've always been a bit of a pacifist in this respect-always wanting to capture the spider or mouse and set it free rather than kill it or see it be killed. After all, what did it do to you? It was just looking for some food.

Guineagurl, I'm with you on this one! I cannot stand rats or mice even though they are (I suppose) somewhat similar to cavies. They just gross me out!
