Question Trinity

Hello - I'm just a little stuck with my religous studies revision

I know that christians believe in the Trinity - The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit. So how does it work? Is God 1 being who appears in 3 different forms? Is God Jesus and the Holy spirit?

Also, Jesus is known as the Son of God. But then in some of my books it says that God incarnated to become Jesus. Help me? What is Jesus' actual relationship with God?

Thanks

Re: Trinity

Ok, is this right --> God is one being who appears in three different forms. Chrisitans believe that God created the world. God then chose to become a human being (incarnated) and lived on earth as Jesus. When Jesus was crucified he ascended to heaven but sent down his spirit which is called the Holy Spirit.

Re: Trinity

just read it now! Thank you so much. It's just that when we were taught it, I didn't really understand it. Seeing as my exams are coming up, thought I just get to grips with it!

Re: Trinity

no worries! I was raised a Christian, and I'm still not sure I fully understand it but I continue to learn. I can only imagine how confusing it might have been in the context of an all-inclusive religious studies course!

Good luck with your exams!! My last two are Mon and Tues morning. THEN I get to really concentrate on packing!!!

Re: Trinity

Hi Everyone - I having learned so much on this forum and I (and my amazing cavies) have benefited so much from your advice. I haven't posted until now because I didn't think I could add very much to the conversation. (I'm a little afraid that my ignorance would be incrediably obvious.)

Anyway - I thought I might be a little helpful here. For many Protestants (esp. Evangelicals) the Trinity is considered a Three-in-One deal. While God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit are separate, they are also all God. I know, this seems a little paradoxical. People have been discussing (arguing?) over it for hundreds of years! Anyway - it might help to think of it like an egg - you've got the shell, the whilte, and the yolk - but it's still all the egg. Or a better illustration might be sunshine - there is light, heat, and radiation - and we usually can't really separate them, but they are all different and all sunshine.

I hope that helps give a picture for your paper. Good luck! (and thanks again for all your insight on piggies!

P.S. - The reason I said "Protestant" is that I'm not Catholic and I didn't want to presume to speak for anyone whose beliefs I am not familiar with -- not because I was being disrespectful. Just wanted to clear that up!

Re: Trinity

Thanks for the invitation! You guys have been just awesome. I confess that I was pretty ignorant when I first got (yes - bought at a pet store, never again!) my XiaoMei (Chinese for "Little Pretty"). That first week I got rid of the pet store cage, made my first C&C, ordered Oxbow pellets, etc. It's been quite the learning experience for XaioMei and I (and the new member of our little family - Fred, short for Winnifred.) Thanks again - I'll try to speak up a little more! :-)

Re: Trinity

Religious debates/preaching are not allowed. This thread is in the appropriate forum and so far has been for information only. I see no problems with it.

I'm watching it though

Re: Trinity

Get your beady eyes of my thread! he he. Feel free to close it if you want... I sort of got the answers I needed. Then again, we just talk about random stuff

Does anybody have a cat? The cat that I'm looking after (he's not with me, I go o my friends house) kept on doing this little head but thingy. Like, when I went to pet him, he kept on dipping his head. Aw, but he's such a sweetie. He was stretched across the rug. I'll take a picture tomorrow, but be warned, he is a mega cutie!

Do you mean that he is head butting you? This is a sign of affection. He is marking you as his!

Yeah, he was doing this head but thing. Aww, I do hope it is a sign of affection. Yay! If I take my camera tomorrow and I can take a short vid.
