Hamsters and guinea pigs together?

I know this can't happen possibly but what would happen if you put guinea pigs and hamsters together? Just A WEIRD thought...

They would probably ignore each other. It's not a good idea.

I suppose the hamster would attack the pig. I don't recommend trying it.

Yeah... I would think the same since hamsters are usually solitary animals (so I've heard). Probably wouldn't appreciate the company!

I've never owned a hamster, but wouldn't the guinea pig attack the hamster? I just thought because the guinea pig is bigger.. bit I guess hamsters are probably more nibbly & they could probably do more harm...

Piggies seem to be shy creatures. I couldn't really see them attacking anything. I don't think it's in thier disposition.

Hamsters are solitary and territorial. Guinea pigs are social herd animals. It wouldn't work at all. Gerbils and gps don't go together either. I once had a tiny gerbil who violently attacked two grown up male piggies who fled in terror - and it was THEIR cage, not his.

Hamsters, Gerbils, Mice, Rats and most other rodents are omnivours. The are opportunistic feeders and will eat anything including meat. Guinea Pigs are one of the few Vegitarian rodents and would eventually be attacked by the hamster.

Hamsters are small but bite hard and deep when they want to do damage or think they are threatened. The bite would be bad, possibly fatal, and would probably result in infection and potential abcesses.

Once my mouse got loose and ran into the pigs floor time pen. My sweet pig Deuce wasted no time in charging the mouse while screeching and head butting. That was the only time in his entire life that I saw him show that kind of agression.

I've introduced a hamster to a guinea pig before. The guinea pig was very interested, but the hamster wasn't interested at all. It walked off away from the guinea pig. There was no aggression at all. Just a bit of sniffing.

Wow, you are lucky. I would think the hamster would try to attack the guinea pig since it is so much larger. I am sure the hamster would do a lot more harm to the guinea pig than the other way around.

I have a Syrian hamster who probably wouldn't do anything either, but I wouldn't want to risk it. I have put his runabout ball with him in it into my guinea pig's cage and they tried to push it around, but then I took it right out.
I have 3 different types of hamsters and won't even let them get near one another for fear of an attack - guess I am over protective of my little critters.
