Activities With Your Dogs?

Have any of you ever entered your dogs in contests or shows? Im trying to enter my dogs' in a contest, I have to train them obediance first of course, but one of my dogs is such a fast learner, I bet he can learn obediance in a month, so could any of you tell me any contests you have entered your dogs in and where you went to sign them up, etc.?
Thanks,
Piglets

Re: Activities With Your Dogs?

I took my dog to a show. Not a purebred one or anything. Just a fun show. She won 'prettiest bitch' last time. Classes are stuff like 'Waggliest tail', 'Best Sausage Catcher.' Fun stuff like that. It's real good fun! I'll have to get info about it, it's every June.

My two lab mixes haven't been in any contests. But I'm getting a new purebred Minature Poodle soon who I'll start junior showmanship with. I bet she'll win lots!

Re: Activities With Your Dogs?

Every year, the rescue group I'm in has a dog show. It's completely non-professional. They have several competitions, and a couple of years ago, Brown, my lab, took second place for best trick. My husband and I were excited because the trick was so dumb (I spit ice from my mouth and he catches it in his), but for some reason, people thought it was original.

I have a purebred teacup poodle (supposedly.) We all agreed we like our black lab mix a little better though. personally, I like mutts better :P

I like mutts better too. I only want the purebred so I can do conformation and agility. I'll be getting her from a rescue. Of course since she'll be from rescue she may not be up to the breed standard and I'll have to do either rescue conformation or drop it all together and stay with agility and maybe obdiance trials.
