Anyone else see this happening?
April: time for easter pets.
May: People realize they do not really want the new pets and try to get rid of them.
Ive been scanning craigslist and I noticed a LARGE uprise in piggies and bunnies for "sale/adoption". (usually I never see piggies or bunnies on craigslist). Many are only a month or two old. Many are newborns from "accidental" pregnancies from people who thought they were getting two of the same sex.
I also happened to notice an uprise in piggies and bunnies being dropped off at the shelter I volunteer at.
I new this was comming...but it still breaks my heart and makes me so upset.

Re: Anyone else see this happening?
Summer is approaching. People are moving without their pets and /or going on vacation, don't want to pay or can't find a pet sitter. It's only going to get worse.
Some of the ads you are seeing are likely intentional breeders too. CL does not allow breeder ads but they skirt around it.

Its true some people are just leaving them in shoe boxes on the streets. If I see one I usually take them in but it is devastating to see.

Re: Anyone else see this happening?
My dad found a 3 week old puppy in a Goodwill box once. I have yet to see a pig or bunny in a box out there...but when I do I will take it in.
On the colorado springs craigslist, I've seen so many bunnies..."FREE TO A GOOD HOME"
I've heard horror stories of what happens to free to good home pets.
Yes, there is a rise in easter pets. It's horrible. But there's people like us that can help out with that and give the animal the life they deserve.

I looked on Craigslist, but I can't tell which are breeders or not. If I saw a piggie on the side of the road I would probably beg my parents to let me take him in.
