Question New dog and christmas tree ??

I know its still some time away yet but Im having a problem. We adopted a 1 1/2 year old *very* hyper dog who feels the need to tear everything up including her own toys and Im worried about when I put up our tree this year.I just know she will try to tear it up or pull off the lights or something. Is there something I could maybe put up around it that wont make it look like crap in our living room, like those white picket fences that you see around christmas displays at stores, can you even buy something like that??? HELP !!!

Re: New dog and christmas tree ??

we have 2 dogs and 2 kids so every year we put up those xl yard playpens around the tree. Visitor always make fun of my for fencing off the tree, but it keeps everyone in my house safe and out of trouble. They work really well, I think in 4 years only a few ornaments have gotten broken and that was my clumbsy self doing it.

Re: New dog and christmas tree ??

I'd recommend an exercise pen - they can either be set up to surround your tree entirely if you got a really huge one, or if you put your tree in a corner, you can put it in front of it like a wall. They come in different colors of wire and will be apt to be useful to you throughout your ownership of the dog. Midwest is a good brand.

Thanx guys I was thinking about using those as I had seen an episode of Jon and Kate plus eight where they used it to keep the little kids away from tree and presents.Any idea as how much it will cost ??

Re: New dog and christmas tree ??

It depends entirely on the height of it and the weight of the wire you want. You should be able to get a good idea by Googling it.

Re: New dog and christmas tree ??

I'm guessing its an artificial tree, but if its not I'd suggest buying a Colorado Spruce. They're really prickly and the dog will only touch it once and it won't ever again!

If it's artificial I'd make sure you get fencing around it.
