Zhu Zhu Pets

Have any of you seen these? They're little furry, magnetic, random hamster things that have multiple pieces like a habitrail.

Awesome.

I saw this and immediately thought of the "I have to have a pet, they're just like a toy!" kids. What do y'all think? Heck, it'd be a great to stop kids from running to petsmart to get a furry.

They're soft, and far more interesting than a "boring old hamster." Don't you think? Again, I thought it would be a great recommendation for those kids who MUST have a pet. They advertise that it's "The fun without the mess!" and without breeders and vets and feeding and water and bedding changes and other things that adults gladly do and do so responsibly, and they can still have their furry!

They even have little beds.

Oh yes for kids who want a toy more then a pet I would totally recommend them or Furrreal Friends (my daughter had many of these when she was too little to help take care of the animals herself).

Anyone else notice how expensive they are? I think each hamster is like $30 and each habitat part seems to be priced at $50 or more...

I noticed. I wish they could have made them more affordable. It might go a long way to encouraging parents to buy one of these toys instead of going out and buying a live animal. I don't know why they'd bother buying one from this company when they can probably go to any pet store and buy a hamster or guinea pig for less.

I find it disappointing - I had hoped a company marketing a toy "without the mess and death" might have had the forethought to keep the prices more affordable, since unfortunately that's the bottom line for entirely too many uneducated buyers these days.

I just found them in Walmart for $8.00! All the accessories are cheaper, too! Amazon.com charges anywhere fro $23.00-$30.00 for these little things! Ohhh, what we pay for the convenience of shopping at home!( Walmart.com didn't have them...you have to go in the store.) I bought Mr Squiggles! He would have cost $31.00 on the net!

Awesome! I'd love to see these replace the "living toy" cavies and hamsters etc.

Anyone checked their local toy stores? They may also have them cheaper than some of the places online.

They look ok for some people, but I would not really want one.

Those commercials are all over CN and Nickelodeon (I still watch spongebob) and the songs and munchkin voices of the singers make me want to pull my hair out.

You can't feed them like you do with Furbys, and they don't come with mock adoption cirtificates like Cabbage Patch kids (I don't think they do, I may be wrong?). I mean, they don't actually teach you what it's like to care for a pet or child like other toys. They only say they're "fun without the mess". You just watch them run around for hours. o_O

But they're so... irrisistable... I want one for me and one for my cat to chase around. How do they market these things so effectively? Even adults like them...

I'm not saying it's a great replacement for "My first Betta" or something (I don't condone any pet entirely under a child's care. But for those children who want a furbaby, but won't touch them after a week and then... urg.

So for that little girl (or little boy) who begs and pleads for a hamster or guinea pig, they can have this. Responsibility can be introduced with a creature who can't die. Then we introduce the Giga Pet.

My toddler "helps" by carrying the veggy bowl in the evenings, and as he grows, he will be able to help under direction.

Furbys and Cabbage Patch Kids most certainly don't teach you about having a child or owning a pet either.

For what they're supposed to be, the zhu zhu pets are an outstanding idea. It's the fun of having a real pet, kind of, without the vet bills or daily care requirements. I think it's a great idea. They remind me of slot cars a little too much, but that's okay.

I watched the commercial then looked them up on the internet. Numnums and Pipsqueak are so cute and I love how they describe the Hamsters personality's. I want Numnums and Pipsqueak so badly!

I love this! Now little kids can stopping buying guinea pigs and hamsters etc, and not caring for them until they die! And..the zhu zhu pets never die, woo hoo!
