I have a 2 gallon fish tank for my betta and do about 40-50% water change every 2 weeks. Should I keep going at this rate or is there something better to do? |

If you feed every day you should do it once a week. If you feed every three days (your betas really only need to eat 1 or 2 times a week) then twice a week is fine. |

BTW, goldfish should not be kept in a tank this size. This is the equivelant of keeping a guinea pig in a 10 gallon tank. If you can find a larger tank on craigs list and a good filter your fish will love you for it. Even feeder goldies can live a long time and grow very large given the space to do so. If they`re not their spines deform and it creates some pretty sad health issues in the long run |

A smaller water change done weekly is better than bigger done every two weeks, but doing 40-50% every two weeks shouldn't hurt your fish. You just need to be more careful of PH and temperature when you're replacing more water at a time. And if I may...Froggirl009: Do you plan to get a bigger tank? A goldfish needs *at least 10 gallons* to be happy when full grown (sorry if you were already aware of that!). |
