I have no where else to post this and I really need some advice! I found 2 baby fish in this plant we got from our friends home inside a vase. They are still alive but we have no idea what to do. Anything? Sorry if this is the wrong place but I saw someone posted something about fish. I also got no where else to post it like i said again. Haha. |

Did you call your friend and ask ? Put in a clear plastic bag, fill with cool water and blow into the bag so it's filled with o2. Take to an aquarium store. |

When you exhale it's Co2 and that won't help your fish at all. If you put them in a bag you want to "capture" air, not blow your own into it. Fry are pretty fragile and the only transporting I would do with them is if you could get a fish tank for them, and use the water they came with, or just take them back to your friends aquarium as soon as possible. Depending on what type of fish, they won't survive long in a vase. |

When you exhale, there's more CO2 than when you inhaled, but you also exhale a lot of the oxygen you breathed in. You could live on someone's exhaled air, there's enough oxygen left in it. Breathing into the bag would give the fish useful air, and possibly more of it than trying to "catch" air. |

This is confusing, does your friend have an aquarium? Is this an aquarium/water plant? Just take the entire vase, with fish, to a good, specialty aquarium store. They should be able to tell you what the fish are and probably even take them off your hands. As someone else said, if your friend has an aquarium then maybe you should just take the back home. |

Blowing into the bag will be fine to keep the bag from collapsing on itself (which can seriously harm the fish) as long as they're only going to be in there for a couple of hours max. If you need longer then that try an ice cream pail. Contact the person you got the plants from and find out if you can take them back to him/her. If you take fry to a fish store they'll likely be used as feeders unless they're of a valuable species. |

My friend doesnt have an aquarium. I told my mom and she said that they have been there for a week! I never knew the plant was there and they are growing bigger and they look healthy. I have such bad eyes. I have no idea what type of fish they are but I did notice they are starting to grow the color red in the middle. I'm guessing they aren't gold fish. One is white and red like a koi and the other is gray. They aren't that small actually. I can't really describe how big it is but it isn't an EXTREMELY small fish. I guess that have been feeding on the plant and my mom has been taking care of them. I'm looking up a lot of baby fish things. |

Okay, I'm thinking that this is one of those stupid "plant and fish vases" that are so popular. Usually there is a Betta fish in the vase but I've seen them with guppies and other fish as well. Why don't you ask your mother if the fish is supposed to be in there. You made it sound like it was your friend that gave you the plant. I think this is more like your family received a small present of one of these fish vases--correct? |

Are they in the plant or in the vase? I only ask because tree frogs lay eggs in rolled leaves that hold water. And with hearing they are extremely small it makes me think about tree frog tadpoles. |

Can you keep the fish? Taking them to an aquarium I dont understand why that advice was given. What if you bought a bale and in it was a guinea pig would you take it back to a pet store? No, right? So why then take the fish back to a pet store they are living creatures too you know. |

Actually its my moms friend. And it isnt a fish vase...Well thats what I think. Maybe this blurry picture can help. I kept moving my hand. D: ![]() No they are inside the vase on inside the plants and its not a tad pole. They aren't extremely small at all. You can see them. Actually my mom and I are looking forward to keeping them. I can't believe people keep fishes in "fish vases." It's just so wrong. |

Blowing into the bag also creates ripples and bubbles into the water, which creates oxygen. However, when people at the fish stores do it it's normally to keep the bag from collapsing and keep it floatable for acclimation time. My boyfriend is a die-hard aquarist and when the power goes out, if it's for an excessive time, the best thing you can do for the fish is take a straw and blow bubbles to keep creating oxygen through the water motion. I'd get a nice little tank! |
