What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

My hubby DJ's Jamaican music, so we have been giving them first names of some of the old Jamaican artists:

Alton for Alton Ellis
Byron for Byron Lee and the Dragonaires
Carlton for Carlton Manning

And for the three new little Teddy Bear babies:
Winston for Winston Francis
Errol for Errol Dunkley
Fitzroy for Fitzroy Cambell
(These guys are a bunch of stinkers. I think they inherited some sort of mischievous gene from mom or dad! I'm holding my breath for when pigerty hits!)

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Haha, those are cute! : )
Our list goes like this,

Freya: Freya is the Norse goddess of love (some also say cats). We really love her! : )
Haylee: I originally wanted to name her Caylee, because I think it is an adorable name, but we decided to change it out of respect when we learned of the police finding a body that was possibly Caylee Anthony's.
Villette: My sisters boyfriend picked it out, and I have no idea how it came about. I call her Villie for short.

Hippie - I just thought about it and really liked the name, it came down to either Hippie or Sir. Nicholas and I decided he didn't look like a Sir. Nicholas, I ended up naming a cat (R.I.P) that instead.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Rollo- Like a Tootsie Roll because he is back and orange.

Gizmo- I really loved the name, and he is so sweet and cute and is the leader in the little family, kind of like Gizmo in the movie (Grimilins), right!

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Maple got her name by the color of her fur, which is all brown in different shades, like Maple Syrup. Her belly is tan like the Maple Tree. Not a speck of white can be seen on her fur.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

The names for our piggies was inspired by either their looks or their personallity.

Inka, son named her because she looks like someone spilled ink on her in a few spots.

Ceili, I named her because she is a silly piggy.

Olive, I named her cause I thought her face looks like an olive.

Aztec, my son named him because he has crazy hair, he is a Abby.

Chewy, my son named him cause he chewed on everything.

Bumblebee, our newest, because he is striped like a bumblebee.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Sally Peanuts- I named her that because I had a pig named Peanut who I loved very much as a child and she reminded me of her!

Betsy- My father used to call his car "Old Betsy" and I thought it was a cute name so now I have "Little Betsy"

Princess- Well I named her that for obvious reasons, she IS a little princess of course! She is also crested and it remined me of a little crown.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

I named my guinea pig Piglet because he is a guinea pig and later on we realized he loved to eat! so it suites him very well.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Charlie Brown- My friend picked the name...it started out as a joke that she'd name my first born child because she won a bet or something (can't remember), but she decided to settle for naming my Guinea Pig

Chewbacca- (Chewie) Because he chews everything whether its edible or not. It's like he just has to take a nibble and taste everything, if you stuck a piece of meat in front of his face I wouldn't be at all surprised if he took a bite just to try it. Humans, dogs, cats, carpet, plates, couches, laptops, walls, the brick fireplace (yeah, he tasted it) nothing is safe from the jaws of Chewie. Sometimes its kinda cute, sometimes its a pain...he's already knocked his teeth out once, I'm trying my hardest to keep him from doing it again. Plus, I mean, at least to me, he even looks like he'd be a Chewie, Chewie's Bath - Guinea Pig Cage Photos

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Mr. Guin had that name when I adopted him, and I kept it because he is suave and deserves a title .

Gizmo looks just like the little creature from Gremlins so that's where his name came from.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Atticus- I got him for my sister for her birthday and she "needed" a black and white male to name after her favorite band's(at the time) clothing company

Baby Boo- He was a small sick piggy that was shipped to the pet store I was working at, after a few weeks of TLC from me I took him home on the weekend before Halloween

Cinnamon- I wanted to name him a "C" name and that's the first one that popped into my head... he is kinda cinnamon coloured

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Lucy and Ethel because they're both black and white and I wanted to give them "matching" names that weren't too cutesy

Lola is the combination of two Red Sox players, Lowell & Pedroia

Our new boy came with the name Oliver that my son didn't think was right to change, my husband thinks he looks like Dr. Zaius from Planet of the Apes, and I had to add my baseball love in there if everyone else was getting to choose a name. So he's Dr. Oliver Fenway Zaius, or Doc for short.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

All of My Guys were named for their fur, but the name turned out to fit their personalities, too:
COCO-because he was mixed brown and black, the color of Hot Chocolate and
just as sweet!
SUNSHINE-because his fur was three shades of gold, turned out to be 'the
sunshine of my life' everyday!
COTTON-he's all black except for a few white hairs on his nose that I thought
was a piece of white cotton thread when I first saw him,and he's very
strong and 'what you see is what you get', like cotton!

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Actually all of my piggies except one kept the names they had before I got them.
-Mater-Tom Mater that is, he came with the name and what I can I say it was just to cute to change plus my kids love the movie and we get to buy tons of Mater themed fleece.
-Sable, he also had that name when we got him and he's orange like a tiger plus he's got the spunk that reminds you of a tiger.
-Tutter, the only one that we ended up renaming because the name he came with just to weird for me (even though at the moment I can't remember what it was). Anyways just thought it was a cute name and so thats that.
