Yes Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Here's the list:

HENRY - When we were buying Henry, a little girl named all the shop piggies and we bought him and kept his name... Henry
SMOKEY - I heard someone say this name before on this thread ANYWAYS! We named her Smokey because when we rescued her the building next-door was on up in flame and fought against by the firebrigade and she has specs of ash on her little face.
GAIA - We called her Gaia because Gaia is the Ancient Greek goddess of Earth, so she is named Gaia because about 10mins or so before it rains, snows, and/or hales she wheeks liked she's never wheeked before!
OURANOS - When we rescued Gaia, the owner said that Ouranos and Gaia were very attached twins from the same litter. So we bought him too.
PANCAKE - He has a really nice shade of brown. Hence pancakes = brown

Talking Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Carlita - Was the name of the little girl's cat from a T.V. series called Invasion. She was a tough cat, and our Carlita was the dominant female piggie, so it just fit her.
Fifi - She's very prissy and has the extra long strands around her head like a necklace.
Peaches - Due to her beautiful peachy color of course!
Hershey - She's dark brown with caramel swirls, so I was going to call her Peanut Buttercup, but it was too long, so Hershey she became.
ZsaZsa - After ZsaZsa Gabor, another Drama queen. she has three colors and looks pretty fancy. ZsaZsa the piggy, likes to challenge Carlita a lot, so she has issues with authority too.
Willow - She is an Abyssinian with crazy fur, so Willow just stuck in my head. Her name from the woman I rescued her from was Michelle, but I hated it because it's also my cousin's name.
Romi - She and her sister were named after the movie Romi and Michelle's High School Reunion from the lady the owned her. I thought Romi suited her, so I kept the name.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Oh my, I just read through this thread, and all of those names/reasons are so cute, love it. Mine go something like:

Fred: as in Fred Flintstone, as we knew we would be getting him a housemate;

Barney: as in Fred's Flinstone's best friend and this worked out great because Fred is obviously bigger and "fatter" than Barney; and then came

Pepe: veered off the flintstone path here, he's solid black with a little white stripe down his face, and kinda reminded me of the skunk on the warner brothers cartoon "Pepe Le Pew".

The book is great, but I remember that movie from when I was a kid! I remember it being so vivid and violent, but beautifully animated. I thought it was so sad and I haven't been brave enough to watch it since.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Mt two are Gwynfor and Eoforwine.

Gwynfor means "large white" and since he is the largest guinea pig I have ever seen and is all white except for his left ear and a small patch on his left eye which are black.

Eoforwine means "boar friend", since Gwyn was a boar and Eofor was bought to be his freind it just fitted when i found the name on t'inernets.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Hehe.

My two non-rainbow bridge Piggies are named Linus and Robin.

Linus:
Was named after the Charlie Brown character. Because he was such a little white guinea pig hiding in his big cage with his blue fleece blanket. (We use fleece bedding.) Also his original name was Lily because we thought he was a girl, and got him around Easter. We needed something that started with L.

Robin: Because he was adopted to be a sidekick to Linus, like Batman and Robin. He also "wears" a black mask and has a little bit of reddish brown fur bordering his black sections. He also was named after Robin Hood for the same reason.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

My two guys are named after TV show characters.

"Ned" from ABC's (canceled) Pushing Daisies. He's adorable and sweet and a little unsure of himself.

"Chuck" from NBC's Chuck. (Chuck is also from Pushing Daisies, but Chuck the pig is a boar, so he gets the male namesake.) Chuckie is also adorable and sweet, but has a feisty side that gets him out of sticky situations. There's also the crazy (Abby) hair.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Our two previous pigs first (Rest in pig peace, little ones):

Fang was a female "tortie" abby (black with red markings, and just a smidge of white). She came to us named Sweet Pea, but was anything but. At first, due mostly to the mites she had, she would bite anybody who picked her up. Hence the name.

Phil was found abandoned in a box in a PetSmart parking lot in winter. Across the top of the box was written "Free Guinea Pig. His name is Phil". It fit him, so we kept it.

Our current crew:

Greyson, my mom (who was visiting) named. We had been calling him Oswald, but it really didn't fit, and Greyson did. No idea where she got it, but it suits him.

Wyatt, my younger son named. I think he got it from the TV show Charmed, but not sure. I liked it, and it suits him.

Oswald and Doug came to us named "Bunson and Beaker" and neither fit. Beaker really looked like and Oswald, so we got to use the name after all, and Bunson just SCREAMED Doug.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Kirby came with that name, and DS and I both thought it was an absolutely inspired name for a GP. He was thinking of the video game Kirby, who is a round blob who gets all his powers from inhaling his enemies. I was thinking of the powerful vacuum cleaner.

Cletus was originally named "Daniel" as he came into the rescue with his brother "Jack." We didn't want to retain an alcohol reference, and we wanted something which sounded better with Kirby. The name Cletus suggested to us a friendly fellow with large teeth, which indeed he is! We are also big fans of Tim Hawkins' "Cletus, Take the Reel" - an absolutely hilarious parody of Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel." (It's on YouTube.)

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

It was very hard to name my piglets, in fact I named their teddy bears first. I named the pink teddy bear Willam after Willam Sled who loves the color pink a youtuber, and the purple one after Daniel with purple hair don't remember from what. I name lakota because my cousin told me to name Dakota, but I wanted Lakota instead. Meeka, just because it popped into my head.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

I just wanted to say that I loved reading everyones names and their reasons behind them, and I'm sorry I don't have very interesting stories to share!
Jeter: Because I am a huge fan of the Yankees and he was my favorite player up until a few years ago.
Mailen: My mothers friend was having a baby and I was helping her search for names, and when I came across it I thought it was really cool and different, and when I adopted the little guy I thought it fit perfectly.
Moose: She just looks like a moose! Haha, and I think the name is really cute and she's got the coloring + personality that really fit the name.
Perci: When I got her and her sister, I didn't know quite what to do with her-her sisters name (Moose), was easy, but she was harder! She has a really funky, fun, crazy personality, and I wanted a name that represented that. I've always thought Percy was a really awesome name for a boy, so I switched the Y to an I and made it her name!! It fits her to a T.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Sweetie: I always called her Sweetie when a different family owned her so when I rescued her I just kept calling her Sweetie.
Speedie: When we first got her she just ran around like crazy and really fast.
Snowie: Because she is white.
Possum: She looked more like a possum when we got her then a guinea pig.
Cutie: My son named her because he thought she was so cute.
Pinkie: As she has one pink ear.
Harry: After Harry Potter.
Trump: As my husband reckoned he looked like Donald Trumps hair piece.
Houdini: Bacause when every you tried to find him he would disappear.

Re: What is the inspiration behind your piggie's names?

Smore's because he's white and black and my boyfriend and I had to agree on a name, so it took us two days to name him.

Zoot After a character from a television show, The Tribe.

I always have a hard time naming boys, I have a million girl names in my head that I love, but I ended up with my boars.

I love your piggie's names! You have fantastic taste in music.

My two are named Ziggy and Maxwell, after Ziggy Stardust (aka David Bowie) and Maxwell Demon (aka Brian Slade, from the movie Velvet Goldmine).
