Ok, since you all can't just be nice and let me have my fun I will tell you who it is.

It is indeed - John Barrowman.

For those who don't know who John Barrowman is, he is a pretty famous actor, singer and West end theatre star in the UK. He is the star of the show Torchwood (which airs on BBC America for those of us in the United States) which is a spin off of Dr. Who. He was born in Scotland then moved to Joliet, Ill when he was very young and lived there for 20 years I believe. He moved to the UK where he currently resides and is a huge star and a totally hot guy. He is very down to earth and very nice.

If you would like to know the story of how I met him and got my pic taken with him, all you have to do is ask. There is quite a bit to this story.

There is no prize, I just wanted to see how many people could figure out who it was. Congrats would have to go to Ibbet though for being the first to correctly guessing.

Also, sorry ladies but he's gay and has been in a 16-year relationship with an architect named Scott Gill and they joined in a civil ceremony in 2006. Haha, I agree he is attractive though.

I aggree, My friend and I used to say the good ones are taken, the attractive ones are gay, the other's aren't worth the time a day.

Here's the full scoop and I will give you a warning that they way I am going to tell it may end up being a bit long but bare with me please.

As many of you know my son Jesse went to N'awlins with me. Neither of us had ever been on a Ferry before so that was one of the things we wanted to do was to take the Ferry from the Riverfront of N'awlins crossing the Mississippi river over to Algiers Point. I had wanted to go on Friday but Jesse wasn't feeling too great so asked if we could wait until Saturday. So on Friday I just went wondering around the French Quarter taking photos and seeing the sites.

My Convention ended late Saturday morning and I went back to our Hotel and Jesse and I decided that we would walk over to Riverfront Park, have some lunch, ride the Ferry over and back and then do some other sight seeing. We had lunch at a place called the Crazy Lobster then after lunch we went to the Ferry landing and waited for the Ferry to arrive.

The Ferry came and we got on and we went down to the lower deck because it offered a much better view than looking out the windows of the upper deck. I took a few pictures. We then started our voyage across the Mississippi River to the landing on the other side. We get over there and Jesse asked if we were staying on or getting off. I didn't really want to get off the Ferry so we stayed on. Vehicles were loading onto the Ferry as we were waiting and I was taking pictures of N'awlins from the other side of the River. I walked back over to where Jesse was and he and I were talking.

Then...

I happen to glance about at people on the Ferry and noticed this guy wearing a red t-shirt and plaid shorts getting out of a vehicle. He was halfway across the Ferry from me. He turned his head in my general direction and my jaw hit the floor and I said, "Oh my god, is that who I think it is?". Jesse looked at me kind of weird and asked who. But I told him that I wasn't saying a word until I knew for sure. I then noticed a guy with a camera and a sound guy so I was more convinced of who it was but was still only about 90% certain. I mean the guy did have sunglasses on so it could have been someone who looked a lot like him.

The guy and a lady followed by the film crew (camera guy, sound guy, another guy who I have no clue was and another lady) went to the front of the Ferry and were only a few feet away from where Jesse and I were. I got a bit closer but didn't want to interrupt filming but I wanted to see if I could hear this guy's voice. At first I heard the lady's voice who they were filming with him. She had a British accent. Then I heard his voice and was then 100% positive it was John Barrowman. I was standing there just awestruck. Inside, my heart was racing and I was just melting.

There was a male/female couple standing next to him and he turned and said something to the man. Then he turned and looked at me and I said something along the lines of (don't remember exact wording), "Excuse me, but are you John Barrowman?". He said, "Yes, I am". I think if I could have turned into a puddle of mush on the Ferry floor I would have. I am a huge fan of his. He is one of my most favorite actors. He's in my top 3, the other two being James Marsters (which is how I got into watching Torchwood because he guest starred on the show) and Scott Bakula.

Anyway...

I told him I was a huge fan and and we shook hands. Then we started talking and I asked him if I could get a picture with him and he put his arm around my shoulder, turned me slightly and pointed at the camera and said, "You are having your picture taken, you are on television". He turned to his lady friend and said something along the lines of that he even got recognized occasionally in the US. We continued chatting a bit. He asked me my name, where I was from, I told him I was a huge fan and he asked me what show's I've watched him in and I said Torchwood, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria, Any Dream Will Do and The Making of Me: John Barrowman. He even asked me if I could spell Mississippi which I did.

He then introduced me to his female traveling companion although I cannot tell you her name because I don't remember. I believe she is an actress in the UK. I was too wrapped up in John to pay attention to anyone else, haha. He asked her if she would take a picture of us and she did so I got my pic taken with a famous guy by a famous woman! I also got a hugeeeeeeee hug from him. Not one of those crappy hugs where they barely touch you and back away but a genuine heartfelt hug that lasted around 10-15 seconds. He gave me a really good squeeze. It felt wonderful.

At that point the Ferry was making landing at the other side and they had to get back into their vehicle. He said it was nice to meet me and then he left. After he walked off, the one lady with the crew came over and asked me to sign a press release so that the shots they had with me could be used. I signed the release and asked her if it was going to be shown on BBC America and she said no that it was going to be on BBC1 in the UK. I was bummed because I wanted to see the show they were filming and duh me, I didn't even ask what they were filming so I have no clue what show I may be on with JB. But she did ask me for my email address and told me she would email me with the date and time the show would be on and that she would see about having a dvd sent to me.

So there is the story of how I met my Mystery Ferry man, John Barrowman, got my picture taken and the story that I most likley will be on tv in the UK with him.

I don't really care that he's gay, I knew that before I met him. He's still a very hot, gorgeous, sexy man, even moreso in person. I should have asked him to take his sunglasses off for a moment so I could look into his eyes but alas I didn't do that either. If I had had all my wits about me, I would have told him that I wanted to show him something I learned from How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria. In one episode he spontaneously kissed the Maria's. I should have spontaneously kissed him!

I don't either, I live in Indiana. I actually found him through his music (which I loved) on YouTube, I just recently started watching his show too. He's great and I love him.

No, I missed it, didn't know he was on Chuck. I am a fan of Scott's from the days of Quantum Leap and am still a huge fan of his. He's quite the singer as well and has done theatre himself. So has James Marsters and James sings as well.

I don't live in the UK either but because I watch BBC America a lot (and because of James guest starring on Torchwood), I know who John is and am a huge fan. Late last month they did Season 3 of Torchwood as a 5 night Miniseries called Torchwood: Children of Earth. The way it ended though makes me wonder if Torchwood will continue or if that was the end of the show. I hope it's not the end.

I used to love watching Quantum Leap with my parents.

But really, Scott Bakula guest starred in a few episodes as Chuck's dad, which is really a more important role than it sounds.

I haven't watched BBC America in ages. The Dr. Who series began airing on SciFi, and most of the programs I was/am interested in were out on video in some form anyway (or on SciFi or Comedy Central). I watched the first episode of Torchwood, and then our DVR went wonky and we sort of just 'forgot' afterward. I'll have to have the hubs look into renting it or something for rainy days.

Still, though, meeting famous people is certainly a trip sometimes. I worked at the airport for quite a few years and met many famous people. I just think it's wonderful to find out if their personalities match what you would expect. A lot of entertainers end up being real not-nice people, unfortunately. I'm glad some of our favorites make up for them.
