Angry sad update/Re: What can I do for this cat?

Soooo, an update that has turned bad.
On the hottest day of the year here and a record breaking 102*F...the cat in question was looking for relief and looked unwell. I tried taking her to her "owners" but they had left and all thier pets were outside. We brought her in the house and let her have some water and she was laying on my tile bathroom floor cooling down when they came home. The lady went off on me when she came looking for Saphire. She has accused me of "stealing" her cat and said I needed to stay away from the cat or I would have the police at my door. She tried siting some law and left in a huff with the poor cat meowing and trying to get away from her arms. My kids were devestated and didn't understand why were being accused of stealing. Now thier kids will not play with mine and they were best friends. She screams for the cat every night and if she is on our property she yells for the cat and comes over and gets her. She is all mad at me and all of this because the poor thing was being neglected and came looking for love and care. I guess this is the second time this has happened with one of thier cats. Unfortunately the last time it happened and they insisted our neighbors were stealing one of thier cats...the kitten ran away. I do not understand some people......

Re: What can I do for this cat?

You are to be commended for your effrorts towards this little girl. Some people are SOOOO sick. A beautiful tortie came into the vet clinic that I worked at and was diagnosed with early renal failure. The owner was supposed to give the girl sub q fluids but was afraid to because the cat complained and "she couldn't stand to hear her baby cry." After bringing her into the clinic 2-3 times for us to give the cat fluids, she decided to euthanize the cat. I have taken care of renal failure cats for years and offered to take her and care for her. The owner refused to let me and her reason? "If I can't have her, no one can." Sounds like a similar psycho reaction from your neighbor. Perhaps it's better that your kids aren't exposed to such influence. Love those that you have, help those that you can and pray for the others.

Unhappy Yet another update on my insane neighbors! Re: What can I do for this cat?

So.....after the last incident the one lady came over and appologized saying that her roomate exagerated and turned something small into something big. She wanted to be "friends" again. It was fine for a few days then they asked me again to watch thier pets while they were away for a week. I agreed to. The came home all was well and I thought it was all behind us. That is, until today's incident. My 2 boys and thier son was out in our front yard playing and I was out there sitting and watching with a soda. Saphire came running from out of nowhere and snuggled on my lap. She was fine, the kids were all petting her and all was well. Suddenly the girl across the street yelled at her brother to grab the cat and the next thing I know the 9 year old boy swoops Saphire off my lap and practically strangling her, runs across the street and into the house. The door shuts then it flings open again with a loud abnoxious, "In your face!" and then the door slammed shut. I was angry and confused and frustrated. My kids are done with them and I made them come inside....they don't need friends that act like this and who are taught to be so petty and cruel. I feel so bad for thier cats and it was all I could do to keep my husband from calling animal control and complaining. It is no wonder the neighbors around here ignore them.
