Yesterday and this morning were horrible for me. My fiance was bathing the dogs and decided to take out the gp's to their outside pen. Since their pen is very secure and he was bathing the dogs he thought that the guinea pigs were not in any danger but he was wrong. Our new boxer escaped from his grip and knocked down their pen , she is very strong and my gp's were running all over the back yard, With all the noise I ran outside to see what was going on and I saw the boxer grabbing my pregnant piggy her name is Pigums he bit her twice. Thank God I was able to stop her and I was able to pick up all of my other piggies except for one. He dissapeared and it was getting darker and I didnt not knew were he was. I looked for him all night but I could not find him. This morning I went outside again to see if I could find him and you know what? There he was in my neighbor's backyard. I was very happy but at the same time scared because they have a huge dog in their backyard so I couldnt just jump the fence and grab him at the same time I was afraid that the dog might kill Harvey. So I started calling Harvey and I showed him a piece of lettuce he came closer but he couldnt go straight towards me because everytime he moved the dog barked at him and scared him. I was so frustrated because my neighbor wasnt home and the dog would hurt me. I was looking at the clock worried because I had to go to work at 11:30 and it was already 10:45. I tried everything possible I cut my arms a couple of times trying to help him and nothing worked. I was concerned not only for the dog but also for the temparature because during the day here the temperature rises to 105 farenheit degress. I was crying on my way to work and when I got there they told me that they were having tech problems and that I could go home and work from there. I was like YAY! I could try to get Harvey as soon as I got home I went to the backyard and my poor baby was laying on the ground obviously suffering from heat stroke. I started calling him as I held a piece of lettuce. As soon as he heard me he lifted his head and started limping towards me . At that point he didnt care about the barking dog anymore. He just walked towards me and jump on my lap!! I was so happy!! I started kissing him and took him inside the house I gave him water and lettuce and cooled him down. My poor baby I told my fiance that with dogs and gps you can never be too safe. I am just glad that he is ok . My the way I also tried to call everybody I knew to get in that backyard but here people dont care too much about pets. By the way Pigums is fine going tomorrow to the vet to check on the babies and I am also taking Harvey Two Face. I hope you dont have to learn the hard way be extra careful with you piggies.Last edited by Paula; 06-29-09 at 04:16 pm. Reason: fixing alignment |

I hope mama piggy ends up OK when the vet checks her. I'm also happy you got that stroke of luck and got to return home. It must have been terrifying for you. |

Yes I know this sounds silly but before I went to work i told God to help me if he wanted Harvey to be ok. Apparently he did! Because now my Harvey is safe in his cage. I go to check on him every 5 sec hahaha and I set everything up to work next to their room |

Poor mama piggy! My dog chases anything that moves and I'm always so jealous when I see dogs laying down and licking gps like they're puppies; Though it can turn ugly fast. |

I don't know what I would do if that happened. I know I would be late to work or not even show up. |

OMG how lucky you are. Unfortunately i had to learn the hard way. Before i had gp's i had a rabbit and i let him hop around the yard, but one day i left him out to late and my dog got a hold of him. I don't think she killed him, but he just had a little bunny heart attack. He wasn't chewed up or anything. I am happy none of your piggs died, luck was deffinanlly on your side! |

Yeah I agree Peggy Sue and Wiggles is just that I have a new job still in my probatory period. Also it is the kind of high possition that if you are not there for one day you know the next is going to be a total mess. HAHA but you are right. Ill keep you posted on the status of my piggies |
