Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
As some of you know, we lost our dear Alvin two weeks ago, due to liver failure: http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...tml#post426127 We went on a trip and Theodore was pet sited by the guys we adopted from, and we agreed on him being introduced to several other healthy males and be happy again. So here we are, back home. It seems that our sweet chocolate Theodore chose his friend. He got along with one of the males, so we decided to adopt his buddy and bring both home yesterday. We are happy to introduce you our new family member. His name is Bear, he is a Teddy breed, with a black, white and a little gold fur. He was rescued last year, in March, from a kill-shelter in Alabama. We don't know his age, he might be around 2 1/2 years old. It seems he is doing o.k so far. Theodore showed him around his house, it was funny. So Bear followed him and learned very fast he has to go on the ramp to eat or sleep on the upper deck. He needs socializing and for now he is accommodating and waiting for his fur to grow (his previous buddy barbered him a little). I heard he has an Alabama accent, he wheeks differently, so I am looking forward to hear him a lot, and cuddle him, and love him, and I hope we'll be a good family and make him happy. Here is a picture of both our boys, sharing their dinner: Theodore (chocolate Aby) and Bear (black, white and gold Teddy) |

What a great story on how you acquired Bear and Theodore showing him around. He's very cute and they look like good friends already. |

Thank you! Bear ate some parsley from my hand, but just in the cage. So I am happy we stepped with the right foot. He kind of complains when he is picked up, but once he is in my arms, he relaxes. Soon I hope I will be able to photograph him alone, and maybe he will start trusting me. For now he follows Theodore and they make quite a pair exploring around. Although we miss Alvin, we are very happy Theodore found a buddy. He was introduced during a week to several males, and this is the one he liked, I said we'll let him choose, not us. As soon as we brought them home, and put them in the cage, Theodore started popcorning, something he hasn't done since Alvin passed away. The guys that pet sited him said that Bear popcorned too around Theodore, and he hasn't done that in a while. So it is a win-win situation, and I am hoping for the best. |

Updates on Bear: he is doing good. He started begging for food and he is not that scared anymore of us. He also accepts treats when I hold him, though he didn't before, just from the cage. Catching him for lap time is a challenge, but afterward he settles down. The funniest thing he has done? He always turns the pellet bowl upside down, and it is a heavy one. Well this time he managed to roll it from the upper deck till down. I have no idea how he did it, because you have to roll it through two tight ramps: one from the kitchen till the bedroom area, and one till the lower deck (check my cage pics to see what I mean). Hilarious! |
