I was just wondering if I was the only oddball. I would never try the dog/cat food, but I tried some of the fruity colored/flavored bird food (back a long time ago before we found out about Kaytee being horrible [now they eat zupreem natural and harrisson's]). It smelled good, but it tasted so bad I couldn't begin to imagine what in the heck was in there. I remember it to this day. I think I had to brush my teeth and rinse with mouth wash several times to get the horrid, bitter taste out of my mouth, literally. Recently, I decided to try some hay. I was originally doing it to see if I would get a reaction out of my piggies. I only put a tiny piece in, because I was honestly scared. Im conclusion: KM's smells good and is good and tastes wonderful to our piggies, but to me it tasted......like almost nothing. When we used to go to Petco over 10 years ago when we used to live in Long Island, N.Y., my little brother would eat the dog cookies they had in that salad-bar style thing. He stole one one time, and made me try it, and it was actually fairly good. On a side note, do not feed those to your dog. They would be like feeding a carob oreo to your dog: safer, but extremely unhealthy for them. Let's see......I don't think I've tried any other types of pet food before. What about you? Or your friends, relatives, siblings, children? |

I have tried several brands of dog treats. None of them tasted like anything really, mostly like compressed crumbly cardboard. LOL |

I LOVE my dog's treats from Three Dog Bakery. He got a box of the Apple Oatmeal Woofers for Christmas from out neighbors and I eat them everytime I visit home. Then again, they are human quality products, and look exactly like a human cookie would. |

Nope. Not ever. Only because it has only been cat and dog food. But I have tasted hay before, and it isn't something I would particularly want to eat a lot of. I do wonder what guinea pigs' pellets taste like, though. My sister put some dog food in my brothers sandwich one time, and he said it tasted disgusting. |

Horse grain is pretty good, actually. And my friend gave out her dog's jerky treats to us guests (not bad, a bit bland). I ate some of my foster parrot's food because it was that colored stuff that isn't very good for them, and I tested it against the Harrisons- you could definitely tell. It was like sugary cereal versus the 'colon blasters' as my mom calls them (high fiber). And if you ever get the chance- panda chow is SO GOOD. When I was working at the one zoo we had a red panda (cute but flexible and nippy) and we would snack on that panda chow at all the meetings. . On the other end of the spectrum my cousin tricked me into eating "animal crackers" that is, dog treats made to look like the cookie of the same name. They tasted sort of stale, but I was hungry. My aunt came in and gasped, grabbed the bowl of dog treats and started yelling. hehe. |

I can't remember eating any pet food as a child. When I was growing up we fed our dog the canned food and mixed it with the dry and that smelled good but you couldn't have paid me to eat it! Horse grain smells great, all that molasses, just never put it in my mouth. I've chewed on hay but that is just a farm thing. My kids however all went through a phase in which I would find them on the porch chowing down on dog and/or cat food. I would of course freak and they'd just say "but it's good!" They have all also tried the horses food and cows grain. |

Oh! I forgot. My little one and a half year old brother used to eat our cats' food all the time when he could get to it without us knowing it. I did a little test and he took cat food over a vanilla wafer one time!! He doesn't eat it anymore, though. |

I considered trying some hay the other day! I don't know why, but I wanted to see what it tasted like! I didn't... but I was curious! On a similar note, when I was a kid I always wanted to taste vanilla extract! It always smelled so delicious, but never tasted as good as I wanted it to. And oddly enough, I always forgot how bad it tasted. |

Oh yes, when I was a kid I tried canned dog food (yuk), dry dog food (double yuk), dog biscuits (what do they see in them?), and cat treats (you must have to be cat to like those things). I was a kid, of course. I haven't been tempted by any animal food since then except for our piggies' fresh veggies (which they share un-selfishly)! |

I don't think I ever have... but my sister's friend would eat Snausage's (the dog treats). And my hubby's friend would eat the cookies on the buffet at PetCo (or wherever it is that has those). |

I remember trying some meow mix at my grandma's house LOL. My own kids have both tried dog food, but fortunately I feed a holistic food, so at least there are no artificial colors and preservatives in it LOL. The DOGS do really love KM's pellets tho! |

Guess your not so weird after all! I've eaten everything everyone's listed at least once, EXCEPT the canned kind. When I was 5 a neighbor kid dared us to eat dog food and it tasted good..so we tasted everything from rabbit pellets to horse feed! Yep tasted them all. We were so poor maybe my taster was off..but I still sometimes pop an alfalfa pellet I like that alfalfa goodness tastes like it smells. Yummmy! Our dogs never had dog food (that was for rich people) so I used to sneak in their backyard just for a sniggle once in awhile.. |

I tried piggy pellets today! *embarrassed* I'd emailed Burgess to ask for some free samples of pellets and they sent me a sample pack of their new range. They're smaller (more like Oxbow pellets in size) and come in a 'blackcurrant and oregano' flavour as well as original. Well, my lads went mad for the new flavoured ones. So i got intrigued. First i tried original, then the new ones. You can actually taste the blackcurrant in them, slightly. Not nearly nice enough to become a regular snack for me, but i can appreciate why the pigs like them. |
