I'm sorry to hear that one is injured. Are you the one who will be caring for them? If so, well even if not you can pass on the information. PLEASE do thorough research so they are properly aged. This is very important to their survival (proper nutrition as well as how to properly mother them in order for them to transition back into the wild is very important) You can check out many sites on line. This is one of the sites that I went to for information on Rescuing and Raising Orphaned Squirrels; Rescuing and Raising Orphaned Squirrels Good luck and if possible, please let me know how they are doing. |

I'm not sure that I will even be able to post this since the thread is 139 day's or more old But here goes ......... Thank you mods if I am able to If not I understand and hope that I do not get in some sort of trouble for attempting to post this Well, it seems that I am once again the mama squirrel. my boy friend recently found 3 baby squirrels laying on his driveway (they had fallen some 40+ feet from the nest. unfortunately 2 of them did not make. But 1 did I did not think she was going to. I spent 4 days keeping her warm, feeding her warmed Pedialyte and cleaning the blood, dirt and mucus from her nasal passage in order for her to be able to nurse properly from a bottle. by day 4 she was responding pretty good and had even began drinking FORMULA.I have now had her for about 3 or 4 weeks and so far so good! She's a little trooper and has the sweetest little personality. We call her "Punkin Head" (and yes, I realize that it is better never to give them name because they are not pets and will be returning back to the wild but.......can't help it she is so very sweet) It's really going to be difficult for me knowing that she is all alone without even siblings. It's when people dig things that are two or three years old, when likely the OP isn't around anymore, that we'd prefer folks just start a new thread. Good luck with your new girl, I'm sure she'll be well prepared for life in the wild when you return her. |
