Re: 'Jockeys' show on Animal Planet, & the new octuplets

Typically, when you read something offensive, you respond to it right away. Not a week or more after the fact.

For the record, I’m not offended about anyone who doesn’t have or want children. To each their own.

Paula, I think it would enhance your experience here if you could find a way to pretend I don’t exist. Hence my suggestion about the ignore feature.

Speak for yourself. I didn't reply to it immediately because I wasn't certain how I'd like to. That doesn't make it any less offensive to me. Or others, as it turns out.

Do you think it’s unethical to have a bunch of Guinea Pigs? I tend to think people who have more than my 3 are nuts, but I try to imagine them as wacky, caring, fun loving kind of nuts so I assume they’ll give those pigs a good home.

I spent most of my life involved with horses and still hate racing. Hopefully, one day they will figure out dumping horses that break down or aren’t fast enough, isn’t ethical.
You have twins! Me too! Boy/girl? Identical?

I have 4 wacky kids... does that count?

Oh, and to stay on topic - the Jockey show is lame and the doctor that allowed the 6 embryos to be implanted needs to have his or her license revoked.

Or at least made to raise some of those children when the train wreck otherwise known as their mother derails completely.

Anyways, I think it is so bogus that Nadya is vacuuming out her student loans in order to support her children. I am going to go to college soon, and so are other people who are 18, and are just like me. Normal(mainstream) college students like me and millions upon millions of others actually need this student loan money. I don't mean to sound so selfish for myself and everyone else my age, but its not fair what she is doing. Oh well. She's never going to be able to pay all that back, is she? I think we'd all like to believe she can in her lifetime, but it's possible that she won't be able to, at least not the way she is going right now. And she's just making babies for herself, while people like me, some other users on here, and all of my friends actually want to "grow up", become actively involved in our careers and then have a family, but we have to share the pool of student loan money available with someone who is doing it all backwards to the extreme. Wow.

Adorable--I don't mean to pick on you like Ly said we were doing in another thread, but you sort of hijacked my thread. You can try private messaging people if you want to settle an argument or disagreement with them. That way, no one else will be able to see what you are saying to them, and therefore, nobody "extra" can butt in to your conversation and continue to pile on the arguments with you. I'm sure you don't need everybody arguing with you, just as you don't need to be arguing with everyone who replies to something you posted. I'm just trying to be helpful, I really don't want to get involved in this,

I'm one of those non-traditional students (going back after being out, and had a kid and got married) using her student loan money (more than she'd like to) to help make ends meet. That's what the extra money is for in student loans though -- to help with cost of living. I also receive grants on top of my loans, because of how little my family contribution is right now. (So I'm sorry that your pool of funds is slightly decreased because of me. Oh, and if you work, part of your taxes are also going to my disability pension, so thanks for that, too. But don't worry, I'll stop collecting that once I graduate school and get a job...)

It'd be great to have done things the forward way instead of the backwards way, but yeah. Not to that extreme. I just had a run of bad health luck and ended up not being able to go back at the time, then had a really good job, then got pregnant after the doctors said it was a slim chance. (Although there is some man-bashing in my life, since I went from being very self-sufficient to being fairly dependent and that upsets me... and having near-perfect credit to being hounded by creditors... mrrgl!) So, I've dealt semi-graciously with the hand I've been dealt. With the support system (friends and family rock) I have, I am thankfully able to go to school now, and by the time I will be graduating and getting a job (hopefully, in elementary education) my son starts school for himself.

I look at that, my life, in comparison with someone who is doing something so extreme... and it just makes me want to vomit.

B/G, and please don't ask me if they are identical.

I thought I might have recognized your name, but I wasn't sure. Good to see you!

Glad you are doing ok and somehow managed to get your life on track. You know sohpistacavy didn't mean all of those who did something like that with student loans, but meant just her especially. Suleman let's face it, is not going to be able to pay that back like others can. And she probably realised by now (as her actions speak) that the only way to get money in her situation is by taking offers from media and dig more publicity. This is the only way she can keep the kids and pay the bills. I wonder what is going to happen when the people will loose interest in her case?

Oh I know it wasn't meant like that, which is why I acknowledged with "But yeah. Not to that extreme." But seriously, my mom gives me such grief about what I'm doing that I almost wish my mom got ahold of this chick and gave her a talking to!

What will happen when people lose interest? She's going to end up being a sponge on the government, and a strain to every/any friend or family member she has. Her mom was on tv again this morning and I actually caught it. She says the kids will all be fine since they know they are loved. That might be right, but it sure is going to be a hard way to grow up. Not to mention when other kids start picking on them because of things their parents say about the 14 kids' mom.

Re: 'Jockeys' show on Animal Planet, & the new octuplets

Oh, yeah, I totally didn't mean it like that. I would be totally cool with it if the sort of thing that happened to gooberific happened to me, I was just talking about how extreme Suleman is making it, plus she's in good health and she doesn't want to get married, she just wants babies. Lol
Whatever floats her boat, I guess. I just hope that all of those children are going to be ok, they're all so adorable (what little kid isn't L0L). I hope they don't feel like they don't get enough attention from Mom, I know I wouldn't like that

Your mom should be proud of you managing this! I always said I will go back for even more school, even if I would be 50 and beyond. I would really like a 2nd college. Bottom line is, I really like learning lots of things, even if I end up doing more colleges or just researching and reading by myself. For now I have to realize how to get further after my background college (from another country) and how the system over here works and can work for me, and what options do I have. Let alone deciding on a bigger family for me and my husband (and our two guinea kids).

That question about the octuplets mom was more in a rhetoric way. She doesn't realize we are not buying it? The whole declaration of her going back to school and get a job is not true. Probably the same arguments she had with the first 6 kids too (the college, and job stuff). Even if she does, her pay check will not be enough. Even if she gets lots of money from publicity, c'mon, she has 14 kids who need her attention (an hour for each is not enough attention from a mother), does she really think she can go that far? In a way from the bottom of my heart I wish those kids that are innocent to have all the needed attention and stay with the mom and be provided with what they truly need. But still, on the other hand, when I get to think about the whole situation and what they are going to get through now and later on, all 14, I think at least some of them will have issues in growing up because of their mother irresponsibility. Each way you look at it, it doesn't show a good picture.
