We got back from holiday yesterday afternoon. Usually when we get back from being away within a few hours our cats are home. Our younger cat was lounging on the floor but our older one was nowhere to be found. This didn't worry me too much. Until I woke up this morning (after a bad nights sleep) to discover she hadn't been home all night. She never misses a meal and now she has missed two. I had to go and pick up the guinea pigs so I thought I'd wait and see if she came home while I was out. Then when I got to the pig sitters I found out that smudge has a swollen foot (see medical thread). So I came home got the piggies sorted and went door knocking, which was unsuccessful. Then rang araound all the shelters and left messages. I did manage to talk to a helpful lady at the SPCA but she didn't have any more ideas of what to do. So after all that I have a missing cat and an injured guinea pig |

I hope you find your cat. I know how it feels to have a missing cat. My cat ran away last year and I spent hours walking around everyday until I found her. |

It's not the first time I've had a cat gone missing. We found the other one a lot quicker though. I've posted a missing add online so hopefully someone will find her. |

Maybe this is a sign that your kitties should be indoor only. I never ever allow my cats outdoors especially after I saw and heard a cat get ran over right in front of me and die in horrible pain. Not to mention some people set poison out for cats. Not trying to be mean but animals should be indoors where they are safe. |

First of all Kiera arrived home at about 9.30 last night. She is healthy and was very affectionate Quote:
I would like to keep my cats inside. However keeping Kiera inside is impossible. She is a crafty cat and would run out as soon as you opened the door. I have tried in the past and all I ended up with was a stressed cat and me running around trying to keep her in. So I tried to settle for keeping her in at night. But she soon caught onto that and wouldn't come home until we were in bed. Where we are living I know all our neighbours and they wouldn't put out poison and the risk of getting hit by a car is low as she won't go near the road and we live in a quiet area where noone drives over 20km/hr. Its not an ideal situation but she is much happier being able to run around outside. |

My cats where always outdoor cats (except one when we lived in a neibourhood where you weren't allowed to have outdoor kitties). None of my cats have ever been injured or poisoned. The only time one ran away was when we were leaving the vets and she got away. She found her way home the next day as we lived 2 blocks from the vets. I hope you find her! I know what it's like having a missing kitty. Hope she comes home soon! |

Kiera turned up as I said in my previous post. She is happy and healthy. The first night she wouldn't let me sleep because she wanted so much attention. I have never had any problems with my kitties being outdoors. I don't know of any inside cats in New Zealand, we have so much space for them to run around. |

My family had a indoor/outdoor cat. He would not hear about staying inside. He would jump up on our screen door and just hang there until we put him out. He was nuetered, and we would never let let an unaltered aninmal outdoors unsupervised. The worse thing that occured is that our next door neighbor would chase him out of his garden with a broom. That was funny. The man never swung or hit him. I'm glad your cat came home. |
