Re: Best Duck Feed -_- I live in a h-o-u-s-e. And I can provide for the swimming need. I was just asking a question out of curiosity, and I personally believe I knew what the answer was going to be, before I asked it. Like when you're in a class or something, you do a math problem, then you're sure you have the answer, but you ask the teacher/professor/tutor anyway because you just want to hear someone tell you the same thing you already knew, to double-check before you turn in the assignment for a grade. Sorrrreeee. Yah, me neither. It went from duck feed, which only a couple of observant folks responded to, and then it went to me keeping a wild duck(which would obviously fly away, or at least out of the enclosure before you know it), then it was like I was given a sedative because I "woke up" and people were arguing about dogs. Which is the fault of whoever started the thing about me keeping a wild duck. My ducks, are obviously going to live outside most of the time, sheltered. I will also, however, spend a lot of time w/ them inside, w/ diapers on. They wouldn't need the diapers outside. We also have plenty of ammenities to create multiple swimming environments for them. If the weather is inclement enough, I have plans to bring them in the garage(which has never had a single vehicle parked in it ever) so they can still be as close to outside as possible.

Re: Best Duck Feed If you live in a house why would you be asking if you can have ducks in an apartment ... and if they're going to be outside pets, why would you be considering duck diapers? I mean, seriously?

| Re: Best Duck Feed I'm ordering fertilized duck eggs from XXXXXXXXXXX They also sell duck eggs for eating, because some unfortunate people cannot enjoy everyday, simple things like omelettes, scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs, easter egg activities, etc, because they have severe allergies to chicken eggs (which is the same basic reason why there exists duck dog foods, rather than chicken dog foods, b/c some dogs have severe allergies to chicken products). If anyone still thinks that ordering fertilized and/or edible duck eggs online is disturbing after realizing that I'm speaking of eggs and not actual ducks, then you're saying that: 1) Children in school are not entitled to a hands on, extremely educational learning experience for the science part of their curriculum. Children are the worlds most important people, they are the vets of tomorrow who may one day care for our cavies. 2) People w/ severe allergies to chicken eggs are not entitled to still enjoy egg dishes, bakery items made w/ eggs, etc. Maybe no one else loves eggs + things made w/ them like I do, but I really couldn't live as happily as I do now w/o "egg consumption" (l o l). | Re: Best Duck Feed I'm using the duck diapers when I bring the ducks inside. They are all pretty much going to think I'm Momma Duck, and they actually can experience some sort of "seperation anxiety" like dogs do. They'll get noisy w/quacking for me, and develop behavrioal issues if I don't at least bring them in to socialize sometimes. They can also easily become bored if their #1 human doesn't pay them any attention, not to mention depressed. You guys don't understand, if you coddle that domesticated duckling from day 1, it will behave just like a puppy coddled from day 1. You wouldn't leave a dog outside 100% of the time, would you? Then why bother getting a dog at all? |

Re: Best Duck Feed Um actualy even with your explanation I still find it disturbing. Is giving kids a "hands on experiment" worth the mistreatment of ducks? I'm not saying your misstreating them but many others probably have/will. Some people who have certain problems can't have meat, and some choose not too. Less things are maded from chicken than meat. I don't think there should be any eggs or milk in the world unless they have insanely good care. ANd diapers on a duck? I'm sorry but thats not right in m,y poinion. I find them cruel on horses too. Ducks aren't meant to have diapers on them. ANd if you try to sompare them to babies please don't.

Re: Best Duck Feed So you want a duck (or ducks, which is only slightly more disturbing) so that you can have a bunch of waterfowl that will follow you around and behave like dogs with their affection? Your explanation is seriously disturbing. Getting ducks for as a classroom experiment is actually heinously cruel and carries with it tremendous opportunities for the ducks to be mistreated and actually hurt. Kids shouldn't have ducks as classroom pets just the same as they shouldn't have guinea pigs or hamsters or anything else as classroom pets. I think a person’s reasons for wanting a wild animal should be a lot less selfish and meant for the welfare and good of the animal, not so you can have an “exotic” pet that will “love” you like an “ordinary” dog would. Further, I think a person should have the good sense God gave a duck before s/he seriously considers getting any.

Re: Best Duck Feed ENOUGH! You are obviously going to do whatever you want DESPITE the multiple reasons not to. You also have the AUDACITY to post a breeder link. Haven't you been around long enough to know better? You can do whatever you want. It's obvious no one will be able to talk any sort of sense into you. Understand though that your ideas are immature, selfish and will lead to the neglectful abuse of these birds. THREAD CLOSED!
