Angry Hot!

I am so hot right now I could just about scream! So I'm venting here.

One of my son's friends, who is not my favorite for many reasons showed up unexpectedly this afternoon. My first impulse was to tell him to go away because he is hyper, destructive and I don't totally trust him. And for good reason, now it seems.

I left my son and his 2 friends, one of whom was the child I don't trust at the house for a few minutes while I went to pick up my daughter from a friend's house. (My son and his friends are 10). After the friend I don't trust left I decided for some reason to count the money my daughter had collected for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and there's about $20.00 missing!

I'm pretty sure my son's friend took the money. I have no proof but I know he's taken things that didn't belong to him before. We can't get in touch with him right now--they won't answer the phone but I'm sure he won't admit to it.

I have told my son that this child is no longer welcome to come to my house. I will not have people in my home that I know I can't trust.

Steal from charity, who would do such a thing?

Re: Hot!

Sorry to hear.

My sister lives with me and brings in some odd people at times. Her "best friend" was kicked out of her place were she was living and thus they both asked if she could stay with us til she could find somewhere else. A little stay turned into 3+ months and long story of crazy events. It finally blew up last week resulting in my sister missing clothing, perfume and all her money that she needed for her books for some summer semester classes at the college. To top it all of either this girl or one of the people she was letting in at all hours of the night stole my pain medication (which was in my bedroom, not in the open) knowing full well my chronic pain disorder.

Needless to say my husband and I are quite burned with trying to help people and definitely won't be letting anymore strangers in our house.

Re: Hot!

Sadly, many people steal from charity. I'm very sorry to hear about your misfortune.

One of my brothers has juvenile diabetes. When we were raising money for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) walk, my mom made one of those charity boxes to put at our eye doctor. They called one day and said they felt terrible, that when workers arrived there, one of the glass doors was shattered, and the only thing stolen was my brother's diabetes box. It had at most, $100 in it.

Like, who would steal a juvenile diabetes charity box? Not any of the computers or the TV or $500 sunglasses or anything.

The only thing we can hope is that they needed the money more than we do.

Re: Hot!

I would call the child's mom and ask if she found any money on him that she thought was unusual.

Re: Hot!

My family used to live in a bad neighborhood when I was little and we had cousins that were somehow related to my ex stepdad living right across the street. My brother was great friends with them so they came over to our house all the time. Well in my family the younger kids used to get a lot of money for their birthday and this one birthday I got like $150 from my family. They came over one day and were in the house alone with my brother and stole all my birthday money. I found out later that they and a bunch of their friends had taken it all down to this old video store and bought lots of candy with it. We informed their mother and their mother knew they had money that wasn't theirs and she said she'd make them work and pay it back but they never did.

That is flat out horrible and mean! I can't imagine someone doing such a thing! I would be infuriated as well!
