Yep, she does. Speaking of namesakes (sorry I am highjacking your thread a minute Susan) but one of Elly's namesakes has a birthday coming up this Wednesday.

Ha, Ly! I wish. Soon, though, I hope. We're contemplating IVF treatment for later this year, so who knows? Though when I find out that I'm actually having a baby, my thread title is going to be huge and unmistakable.

Ha, I skipped it because of the title! Baby chinchillas are amazingly cute creatures. She's really lucky to have someone who knows what they are doing too...a lot don't make it weened that early. Been there, done that on the every 2 hour feedings, it's rough! But very rewarding as you know. =)

There is some thing people always talk about hanging along with water in the cage, but I forget. I assume you have a good source of information.

I was with Ly, about to type big, bold congratulatoins for a concieved little person, but a baby chin is very exciting too. I've never seen a baby chin but they are absolutely adorable. I love the name.

I have never had a chinchilla. Do they normally like to be held like some guinea pigs do? If not, would hand raising a baby like this make a difference in their people friendliness? She is such a cutie. I like the name as well.

Some chins are fairly friendly, but most are too curious to like to be confined by holding. They like to go and explore and see all there is to see. I've never really hand raised one successfully, so I'll have to see if this one ends up friendly than my others.

Yeah, they are too hyper to stay in one place and be held generally. A lot of them like to be scratched under the chin and behind the ears. With guinea pigs, picking them up and holding them helps with bonding usually, but with chins it's usually better to let them come to you. They remember things much longer and forcing them into anything usually doesn't help.

Okra got way more friendly after I had to hand feed her for a few days, which was a relief because I thought she would hate me forever! So maybe this works out like that.

I've been trying to get some more pictures, but since I've had the flu, I've been donning my isolation gear that I stole from the hospital (plastic gown, gloves, mask), for feedings (just in case) which makes everything awkward and I think scares Wee Thumbie (the crackling from the plastic gown).

Dear husband has promised to help me get some good pictures when I'm feeling better. He's an excellent photographer, so he should get some good shots.

Wee Thumbie isn't so "wee" anymore. She's getting so big. She's a little over 2 weeks old now. Here's some pictures, so you can see how she's grown.
