People offer you pets often?

Word has gotten out that I have a menagerie of animals at my house. Just Sunday I was offered a hedgehog and a kitten. The people that offered their hedgehog said 'We don't like them after all. We liked our first one, but this second one just isn't as fun.' I mean, AH! Their last one they put to sleep because it was old and in misery, which I agreed with. They should have it put to sleep. But what THEY did was put it in a box and suffocated it with carbon monoxide from their truck!! They kept telling me 'It's perfectly safe and humane!' That just ticked me off beyond belief. I kept my mouth shut. They knew my opinions.

Then a girl offered me her kitten from her cat's soon to be litter. They keep their cats outside and she says there is a male cat that keeps impregnating their cat. *sigh* She went about patterns and how cool the kittens should look. This girl was I think 17. Same girl that my mom gave our stray cat to, which ended up dying because they, KEPT IT OUTSIDE and a coyote ate it. I told her no I would not take a kitten as we have a cat already, and my sister is bringing her cat with her when she moves back in. She asked me to come see the litter when they came, I agreed. I think I'll get her to look into seeing if the vet will neuter all of the kittens and the mom. It just makes me sad.

Any stories from you guys?

Edit: I did not take the hedgehog. Not only do I not have ANY room, I don't know the first thing about them and honestly I don't like them very much.

Re: People offer you pets often?

I am a rescue contact for the Hedgehog Welfare Society. Is there anyway that you could go get that poor hedgie? I'm not sure where you are located, but we have rescue contacts all over the country. Hopefully one of them can pick up the hedgie from you.

Please email me asap, so we can discuss it.

Thanks,
Julie
