I'm Getting Published!

I just had to announce it, even though nobody probably cares because I'm rarely here anymore. Blame it on my busy schedule

I'm in in my second year of law school and on the school's journal of agricultural law, which requires good grades and writing skills to get on (I was convinced I had neither, but applied anyway). Law journals are put out by students, unlike medical journals, etc., which are published by professionals in the field. Anyway, what that means is I've spend a lot of free time these last couple of semesters checking author's sources and making sure their footnote citations are correct. It's tedious and frustrating at times, but looks good on a resume and I enjoy it because I'm a freak who enjoys legal research. Also, us junior members are required to write a "note" (aka a 40+ page legal research paper) on a unique topic with our own analysis of the subject tossed in. I chose colony collapse disorder and talked about how government funding and regulation could help control the disappearance of honeybees. I figured since I bashed beekeeping practices and pesticide use it would be considered too offensive for publication in an ag.-related journal. But I guess not, because I just got the e-mail that my article will be published in one of the Journal's volumes next year. I can't believe this. I'm so excited. I really need the resume boost after messing up a couple of exams last semester.

Re: I'm Getting Published!

Wow that's great. Good for you. I was excited as all-get-out when I saw my name published under staff credits in the books I have been working on for the past 4 years, I can only imagine my glee had I actually written the book.

Wow, congratulations! Actually sounds like an interesting topic too. I bet it was a ton of work, and it must be so satisfying now that it's paying off!

Re: I'm Getting Published!

Thanks, all. It was a lot of work, and I'm glad they decided to publish mine. Only 7 out of 20 junior staffers got published. If I didn't get chosen, I had made up my mind to shop it around to other law reviews and journals.

Thumbs up Re: I'm Getting Published!

Congratulations! The bashing must have been smashing. I had a colony of feral bees in the wall of my house, but by the time that I could find someone to remove, not exterminate them, the viral infection had wiped them out. Even though I didn't want them to reside there (I had honey dripping down the siding and very interested wasps and bears), I was extremely upset at the fact that they died due to the viral infection. Oh, and someone(s) obviously cares, no? It was alot of hard work, I'm sure, and that deserves recognition.
