Furminator-shedding tool

I am curious if anyone has tried the Furminator for their dogs and/or cats. It is a grooming tool to get rid of the undercoat.

Personally, I bought it and used it recently on my four cats. It does an amazing job of getting all the underlying hair. I couldn't believe how much more hair I got out than with the traditional slicker brush. My cats really enjoyed this grooming session.

I bought the small size and paid $30. If you see the advertising with the dog and cat surrounded by their excess hair-believe it! I am actually going to consider buying the large one for grooming my horses during shedding time!

I have used it on a cat, a border collie and seen it used on a horse. All the time it was amazing! I couldn't believe how much fur came out of them. The large version is great on horses also.

Re: Furminator-shedding tool

I got the small one for Christmas and it works amazing. Riley, my beagle, loves it so much he sits in my lap and waits to be brushed. Between three dogs and three cats I have a huge pile of hair at the end.

Re: Furminator-shedding tool

I do not personally have it, but I've seen advertisements. Seems to be worth the money then. And I have a golden retriever, who sheds a little bit; I'll bet it'd be good for her coat.

I have something similar, called the Shed-Ender. It works good at getting loose hair out, but it's definitely not for dogs, like it's advertised. The brush part of it is so small, it takes forever to brush her with it!

Here's the website: https://www.shedender.com/Default.asp?bhcp=1

I've never used it, thought about it but worried it'd be a waste of money. After hearing how well it work for y'all I think I'm going to break down and get one.

Re: Furminator-shedding tool

I should also mention that it comes in handy for getting hair off of coats. My cat, Josie, found a nice hiding spot in our closet right next to my favorite green coat, well needless to say, when I when to put it on it was covered with cat hair. We had about 5 minutes before we had to go and the furminator was on the table so we gave it a try and it saved the day.

Re: Furminator-shedding tool

I have heard this is good but we got a cheaper thing from the greyhound rescue which they use and its really good for getting loose hair out of short haired dogs. Its called a shedder Grooming Parlor

Way better that ordinary brushes and combs. No good for my long haired girl though.

Re: Furminator-shedding tool

i use a combination of brushes. The furminator is wonderful and i use mine but you CAN over-furminate and do damage to hair. So I have furminating sessions then in between I use a Zoom groom. love love love them! I even zoom groom the piggys and my bunny as they think its the best scratchins they can get.
