Giant baby update! Posted in the private forum but might as well go public as I'll be disappearing off in about 10 weeks for some time! I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant with our first baby. Had a follow up scan yesterday (I have a low lying placenta and it's being checked fortnightly) and got another picture of bub! At scan 2 weeks ago (we're not finding out the sex) baby weighed just under 3lb. This is the best pic I've had so far, taken yesterday. The bubbly bit by its mouth is its cord. ![]()

Re: Giant baby update! Congratulations! The way the cord is looks like he/ she is sucking a dummy. So cute, you have to just love babies.

Re: Giant baby update! How long will you be away after the baby is born? I would guess you would have to be with it 24/7.

Re: Giant baby update! Congratulations! What an exciting time for you! Are you waddling yet? All my coworkers would do their impressions of me waddling when I was in my last trimester. Good luck with the birth, hope you and baby do great! Just remember, epidural!

Seeing as this is my first I would love the thought of being able to go without invasive pain relief like an epidural but will see how things go. Depending on the situation with the placenta I may have to have an elective section which would suck big style recovery wise but in the end I'll do what's best |

Re: Giant baby update! Go with what you want Lorna! I wish I had a written birth plan, I asked for a panadol and got peth!! It was very bad, I went all silly from it, felt out of control. Anyhow it wore off and I gave birth naturally, except for that gas bottle they were not removing from me, even in the shower! Yve was a posterior baby and the actual birthing time, was incredibly long, 2 hours or so, though the labor was shorter. At the time, I wished wished wished I had an epidural, but looking back , I am really glad I didn't!

Re: Giant baby update! Congrats! Oh, I love babies! Your first baby is always sooooo exciting! You will do great! I agree with the above posts. I am pro epidural all the way! Then again both of my babies were over 1o pounds. My son was my biggest at 10 pounds 10 ounces! So, you can see why I needed an epidural for both of mine! LOL!

Re: Giant baby update! I am so excited for you Lorna. You'll be a great mother. It must seem like you've flown through this pregnancy! It will be interesting to see if the birth weight matches the estimates. The twins weights were pretty accurate; both estimated at either side of 7lb and they ended up 6lb 4 and 7lb 14. Sometimes it can be completely out though! Counting down the weeks to go...

Re: Giant baby update! Beautiful, beautiful baby picture!!! How amazing to see a picture of yourself in the womb - it's not something I suppose many of us have, though I have treasured the one I have of Ronan - definitely one to keep for the album! I would agree with getting plans written down - but none of mine came to fruition (blamed on it being Christmas day - short staffed etc) but still managed without pain relief which was my main concern (ouch!) I was sooking on a tube of gas and air - but swear it was plugged to nothing, the good it did! You've got to go with what's right for you at the time! Stay well, and look after yourselves!!!

Re: Giant baby update! Congrats on the baby. And as a mom who has had 2 C-Secitons... If you do end up having a c-section the best advice would be to get up and walk as soon as you can. It is going to hurt, but you will make you feel better faster. Also don't feel guitly about taking any pain meds. It will make recovery easier on you, and in turn make being a new mom easier. How can a woman be expected to be a mom if she is in pain. Again Congrats!!
