US-Daylight Savings Time November 4

Are you ready?

Daylight Saving Time will end one week later than weare accustom to, now ending the first Sunday in November. This change is due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and is outlined in section 110, which amends the Uniform Time Act of 1966.

On Sunday, November 4th we will FALL BACK one hour. Seems simple enough, right? Not quite! Have you ever asked yourselves how computers, servers and other technologies magically know to adjust their times for DST. The answer: It has been hard coded into the system to change on the first Sunday of April and end on the last Sunday in October. Now you may have to do it manually.

If you have Automatic Updates turned on in Windows and up to date(and you should to keep your computer safe) the DST update patch will be automatically applied to your computer and it will adjust the time on the new date. If your running Mac, Linux, etc im not sure about those operating systems.

Re: US-Daylight Savings Time November 4

In the United Kingdom, ours go back this weekend. I do not like it when the clocks go back as I hate getting up when it's dark to go to work and getting home when it's dark - so depressing.

Re: US-Daylight Savings Time November 4

Normally ours would too. Until this year when they changed it. I wish they would just do away with it altogether. I honestly don't see how it saves energy. You have to get up in the dark, so you turn on lights so you can see to get ready for work. By the time you get home from work, it is dark so you have to turn on lights so you can see to make dinner and such and most people don't go to bed until 10 pm or later so the lights stay on for hours.

It is just a pain and I wish they would get rid of it.
