| Mice in the House I'm sorry, but I am totally disgusted by the idea that we have mice in our house. We caught one a few weeks back and thought that was the end of it. Then today, my mom saw one run across her room and into the bathroom. She looked in the bathroom but the mouse was nowhere to be found. Since I have the pigs(with their hay, pellets, and water) my room is a sitting duck for the mice coming in here. Ive now close off all the ways I can think of them getting in here. I even have something covering the crack in the door. I guess its just something you have to live with. I bet there are mice in houses that people dont know their there. But its just the thought of them running all over my stuff. My books, my bed,etc Then I go and touch it Sorry, I just really needed to express my disgust. |

| Re: Mice in the House That's so interesting a pig owner scared of mice! I'd just see them as little guinea pigs, doing their thing to try and survive. Just set up some humane traps. |

| Re: Mice in the House I have had a MAJOR phobia about mice and rats all my life and I mean major, stand on the chair and scream kind of phobia! I have no fear of guinea pigs & never had. My phobic brain just does not put them in the same category as mice or rats, maybe because they have no long naked tail. I admit it's weird, but I totally understand, Fanch and I hope the mice are gone soon. Last winter a mouse or mice moved into the glove compartment of my new little truck. I was totally freaked out & my son had to deal with the nest in there. Turns out my daughter had put a big hershey bar in the glove compartment so those mice were riding around, munching chocolate. I am embarrassed to be scared of something teeny tiny and harmless but I have been even as a very small child. |

| Re: Mice in the House Last summer, I had two mice get into my house. I had a security screen door that had just enough room from the screen to the door framing for them to squeeze through. I would leave the doors open well into the night and if it was hot enough, all night. Then last September, I found a mouse in the kitchen when the cat was always hanging around near the microwave stand and refridgerator. After setting out humane traps, they were released back into the wild and I learned that I can't keep my screen door open all night unless I want mice to get into the house. I had a shed that I would leave the window cracked to let out all the hot air - the mice ate a small hole in the screen to gain access and were in there for awhile until I got them out. That might be something for you to look at - your window/door screens to see if they are gaining access to your house that way. Unfortunately, they can squeeze themselves so small that they can fit through the smallest of breaches into a house. In the mean time, you can always set humane mouse traps (I personally put a piece of dog food in as they love it) around the guinea pig cage.
