Twins: Update Thread For those who don't know, I'm going to have twin siblings in a few months. They are due in July but they will be born before that - anytime from mid-May to late June. I have been an only child all my life, for little under 18 years. I'll be posting updates about the babies on this thread from now on, including any good scan pics and of course pictures after they're born. We found out what sex they each are yesterday. One boy and one girl. We bought our first 'official' outfits yesterday - one pink pinafore and one purple pinafore, and a tiny little blue jumper and blue dungarees. The consultant was going on about mum going into natural labour in the next 4-5 weeks, in which case she could probably deliver naturally since the babies won't stretch her previous C-section scar too much as they will still be small. If she goes into labour any time between 30 weeks and 38 weeks she will be admitted immediately and given a Caesarean (natural birth will not be possible after 30 weeks). If she is still carrying at 39 weeks (in early July) she will be admitted for an elective caesarean. What hit everybody was the prospect of in five weeks they could actually be here and won't need much medical attention - a few days in an icubator was all one set of twins had to have when they were born at 32 weeks. On the sonogram/ultrasound, they were so active. They were actually fighting at one point - headbutting, kicking and punching each other! It was so funny. You could see their little hearts beating and their facial features are so clear now. One twin (the girl) was opening and closing her mouth. It was so special to see. Mum wanted to know what positions they were in. Both are transverse, meaning they are laying across rather than up or down. One is partly on top of the other. The boy is underneath and is the the one responsible for kicking my mum in the bladder all the time. As far as names go my mum and I have lots of girls names we like. Miranda, Madeliene, Grace, Elysia, and Charlotte are the girls names we like. For boys we have listed Daniel, Nathan and Lewis. We like Connor too but my dad doesn't. Eileen and Elizabeth are definitely the girls middle names, and Robert and James the boys' middle names. The twin pushchair arrived yesterday and it's brilliant. It doesn't fit out the front door so we will have to wheel the twins out the back door and round the side of the house when we want to take them out. It's really light and vey easy to push. The babies also have a baby-bath and moses baskets now. They have teddies in their room, all their changing stuff, changing bags, bedding in their cots (Humphrey's Corner bedding, appropriately)...it's looking brilliant. The car seats will also be in the car within a few weeks. Their clothes are tiny, in the smallest size. *Humphrey's Corner because a) our surname is the same, and b) there is a character called Lottie. I won't post the pics of the scans this time since they aren't that clear. I'll upload a few pics of my mum's bump instead! ![]()

Re: Twins: Update Thread Wow, that is very big news! Hopefully she can keep them in her for a bit longer, as it is always best to keep the buns in the oven as long as possible, even if that does mean another C section. She does not look that big for having twins, but I bet she feels enormous! I love all the names.

Re: Twins: Update Thread They won't let her go that far Piglet! The due date is 17th July but they won't let her carry past 10th. More likely they will be born on my birthday, 18th June. Also Father's Day. That would be funny - both me and the twins being born on father's day 17 years apart. ![]()

Re: Twins: Update Thread I'm so excited for you! How great to get one of each! I love the names as well. Here's a secret: You and your mom figure out what names you guys like and than figure a way to make your dad think it's his idea. That way everyone wins. Good luck and thanks for keeping us updated.

Re: Twins: Update Thread CCC - you all are so lucky! How exciting! I would *love* to have twins. Of course, since we're having fertility "issues" and fertility treatment looms in our future, there is a possibility we could end up with some, I guess. I know a lot of multiples come from fertility treatment. I adore babies - can't wait to see pictures. I'm sure you'll be a wonderful sister.

Re: Twins: Update Thread I can't believe they would let her go to 39 weeks! That is just insane. I would think with twins, you would not push it past 37 or 38. But I suppose there is not much chance that is going to happen anyway. The main concern much be with premature labour not holding them in! Susan, I am so sorry to hear about your troubles, fortunately for me, I have just had to think about getting pregnant and it seems to happen. My sister in law is also having a terrible time though, and it is really stressful. I'll send positive vibes your way! Hopefully you don't end up with quadruplets or something! And good luck with finding homes for the pigs. They are all adorable!

Re: Twins: Update Thread This is awsome news! I love babies. We demand pictures as soon as you can get them on the computer after they're born. Make sure you enjoy them. Babies grow up so fast! My baby cousins are 3 and 1 now. I remember being at the 3 year olds birth. It seems like yesterday. Now she's running around and talking. Gosh.

Re: Twins: Update Thread Ooh, I'm excited! Congratulations, CCC! Siblings can be fun (that is- unless they're little demons of the underworld like my sister) When my mum had her fifth baby, she said "You know, every sixth child in the world is Chinese? That's why I only had five." Great "baby-glamour shot" of your mum
