Unhappy Illinois Weather

Be glad that most of you do not live in Illinois! And for those of you that do (with me), it just sucks. There's a saying, "If you don't like the weather in Illinois, just wait cause it'll change."

Well as most of you know, alittle over a week ago (3/12/06) Springfield, IL was hit by not one but two F2 tornados. There's finally power in about 99% of the city. I think there is one or two small areas but they don't have to worry cause there are no more houses.

Anyways, NOW we're under a warning for blizzard conditions. And this is the 1st day of spring. Argh!! I'm really hating this weather. I just can't believe that we're supposed to get 6-8" just where I'm at and my kids will miss more school.

Ok, I'm done venting. Just needed to get it off my chest. Well, at least my car is at home and not 3hrs away like it was with the tornado.

Re: Illinois Weather

Wow, Illinois weather does change quickly. Blizzards aren't as bad as tornados. Just stock up on supplies, and you'll be safe.

Re: Illinois Weather

That's got to be hard. We have some tough weather, but haven't had anything bad in a long time. We just had a few flurries today, but a blizzard on the first day of spring? I don't think we've had that in like 30 years when we had a blizzard on April 10. Best of luck with the blizzard, hopefully it's not too bad. You, family and pigs stay safe!

Re: Illinois Weather

Well we'll see if it really happens but I'm stocked and ready. Hubby won't go to work (he drives a bus) if it does get bad and he can stay with the kids. I unfortunately will be trudging through the snow to work. I had to take too much time off last week and I work for the Health Dept and we don't shut down. Go figure.

Re: Illinois Weather

I feel for you, I live in Indiana. We get your leftover weather. It was warm all last week till today and its supposed to snow like 8 inches tonight and tomorrow. Then wednesday is supposed to start being warm again. The weather changes so drastically. I think 2 weeks ago it was almost 70 one day and the next day it was 30!

Re: Illinois Weather

And we wonder why everyone gets so sick. Huh? Just crazy!! And yes, you'll be getting it but the tornado missed you, didn't it? I'm still in shock from that one. I've never been in the same town as something like this in all my years. It's just terrible how much destruction it can do. You'll be driving along and one place will be ripped to shreds and next door a window may be blown out or have missing shingles. Unbelieveable!!

Re: Illinois Weather

We got lots of thunderstorms but no tornados near where I live in the last storms. My aunt lives in Kansas City and she is always getting hit with really bad storms. She said there was golfball size hail in the storm you are talking about. Its definatly frustrating to deal with this kind of weather. Although Indiana doesn't usually see it as bad as Illinois.

Re: Illinois Weather

Crap. We always get your left over weather here. Sorry about the poopy weather. We have been pretty lucky lately but the storm season still has a bit of a way to go before it is over.

Re: Illinois Weather

And next week it will be 75 outside. Wonder why the storms keep swirling up from the south like this. This one looks like it's going to swing around us like the tornados did. On the radar we're only under a swirling blue/green area with a predicted 1" of snow but it's turning yellow and getting larger in IL. Got your snow shovel ready?

Re: Illinois Weather

Yeah. I feel you. It's all nice and sunny here in Michigan, but we'll be getting rain and snow for the next two weeks soon. 2 years ago on my spring break there was an ice storm that shut down all the power in almost the whole state. That sucked. But heck, it's Michigan. Why should I expect anything different.

Re: Illinois Weather

That sucks! I hate it when that happens. Just like here, 19C one day and the next was 30C.

Freaky, a category 4 cyclone just missed us, but we got the wind... And I'm not talking about my brother after eating tacos (sorry- I'm excited because we're having tacos for dinner).

Re: Illinois Weather

Well all the schools are closed today because of the stinky weather. I have to drive vwery swoly (very slowly, trying to do an Elmer Fudd voice). Anyways, hubby is out shoveling now. He does come in handy.

Re: Illinois Weather

Thats what it looks like here too. My boyfriend is a teacher and school was closed so he had to bring me to work. He has 4wheel drive. I have to work till 7 tonight and its supposed to snow all day! I hope I can get home, I would hate being stuck at the hospital all night. I wish I could take pics. Maybe after work.
