Laws concerning owning a pet

I stumbled across this when I was brousing thru our cities web site

17.07.030 The keeping of animals.
In any district on a lot with a principal permitted use, no more than six small animals may be kept, provided none are kept for commercial use. Not more than three of such animals may be dogs or cats over ten weeks of age and not more than two may be pot belly pigs. No roosters, ducks, turkeys, geese, pea fowl, guinea fowl, goats, sheep or hogs, except pot belly pigs shall be allowed.

If I understand it correctly then legaly I can't have more then 6 pets at my home. Do your states, cities have similar laws?

Huh. I didn't now that. I don't know if there are laws around here like that, but I figure that I can do whatever I want as long as I pay my rent and my pigs aren't a neucence. Besides that, no "official" people have any business bign in my bedroom.

Woah that's weird, six pets doesn't seem like very many to me! I already have seven and I'm getting two more tomorrow , luckily I live in the uk and I don't think we have pet restriction laws like that.

Yes, most cities/counties have laws about #s of pets. It's to help keep things like hoarding under control. 6 pets may not sound like a lot, but if you've got a tiny yard or live in an apartment 6 large dogs could take up the entire place!

I know places have restirctions for the number of dogs you have. A friend of mine had to get a license to have a 5th dog. I wonder if there are similar laws here.

My city has a limit to three cats or dogs. I don't think they regulate gp's or rabbits or the little rodents. Although I do know people who can and do take care of more (the law isn't really enforced for responsible people) but not everyone can.
