Potty Training For my human kid!!!!!!! I am going nuts here. He started going on the toilet but now he refuses to go. I have tried everything from bribery to cheerio targets. He is being so stubborn. He will be three in May and I know he is a little young but he used the toilet for like a week before. He is being a stubborn little butthead. This is what I get for having a taurus arg!!!!!!!

Re: Potty Training In my experience, if you try to force a kid to learn to do something they aren't yet ready to do, it'll just result in frustration on BOTH ends (for you and your child). Now, mind you, I don't have my own kids, this is my experience from babysitting etc. talking. I would suggest that you cool off for a little while in the potty training department... don't fight with him over it. Try again in a month or so, and see if he is more ready at that point. If you just give him a little while to "think about his options" and let him cool off, it'll most likely go a lot more smoothly. Tell him that when he is ready to use the potty like a big boy, you'll teach him, and make it more enjoyable for both of you than just forcing him to do it right away. I hope this helps

Re: Potty Training Just keep encouraging him. My 31mon old daughter will go pee in the toilet and has poop in there but hasn't poop for a looooooooooong time. I'm not sure why. My 10yr old son took longer to be potty trained and my 7yr old was day trained at 18mons. Each child is different. Does he have a favorite cartoon character that he really likes? Maybe you can buy him special undies. Or just do what I did, I was off for a few days and just put Hannah in underwear and tried to take her to the potty every half hour or less (depending on how much she was drinking) and eventually she got the pee stuff. By the way, Hannah will be 3 on 5/14 of this year. My last child.

Re: Potty Training Hey, Jared's birthday is the 19th. Only a few days younger. Except his birth certificate says May 17th. It gave me a complex for a little while when I thought I did not know my own child's birthday. I thought I was the worst mother ever until I realized he was born on a Monday and May 17th was a Saturday.

Re: Potty Training My foster brother has learning difficulties and he couldnt use the toilet by himself till he was 6. My mum was patiant and she did EVERYTHING. He would sit on the toilet then come off a poo himself. In the end one day he just got up and went. Kind of wierd but what I am trying to say is be patiant. He will get it eventually.

Re: Potty Training Not sure if you can get them mailed to the US but something like this might be useful? http://www.sprinkhaan.nl/en/. It might also be an idea to make sure he is made a HUGE fuss of when he does "go" in the right place, rather than give him lots of negative attention when he doesn't or has an accident.

Re: Potty Training Is he usually in diapers? I have a 27 month old. When we're at home I take the diaper off her and put on her panties. She doesn't tell me when she needs to go, I just remind her from time to time and go help her out. She doesn't refuse to do it because she doesn't like when her clothes get wet or dirty, in a diaper she doesn't really feel it.I alway tell her what a smart girl she is when she goes.

Re: Potty Training Hey, babygirl-Hannah's due date was May 17th but we decided to induce a few days early because her brother and sister were so big. Jordan (10yr old son) was born on his due date and weighed 10lbs. 4oz. Kaitlyn (7yr old daughter) was born the day after her due date and weighed 10lbs. 10oz And Hannah weighed 9lbs 15oz. She had a bm while inside, otherwise she would've been 10lbs easily. Dr said if we didn't go early, she could've weighed over 11lbs. And for those of you moms, no c-section but epidural yes.

Re: Potty Training Jenn-Oh my lord. I thought it was bad to squeeze out a 7 pounder. You poor thing. I was a week early with Korrine and about 2 weeks before I had her the doctor told me she was about 8 and a half pounds. I still had 3 weeks until i was due and I thought I was going to have a huge baby. I was so freaked out. Then she came and was 7lbs-13oz. I had an epidural with her but it wore off so I felt everything. My son was also a week early and weighed in at 7lbs-6oz. My epidural with him was fanatastic. I couldn't even feel myself puch the 4 times it took to get him out. The only bad part was that my blood pressure dropped when I forst got the epidural so they had to put me on oxygen. It scared the crap out of me at first. Honestly though I comend anyone who can make it through childbirth without an epidural or drugs. There is no way I would not have strangled someone if I had not gotten doped up.

Re: Potty Training I'm sorry but with my huge toddlers that I gave birth to, you better make sure the epidural drugs are ready. I'm almost 6 feet tall and hubby is 6'2". So we're not a small family. Jordan's labor 17hrs. (darn boy) Kaitlyn & Hannah were 6hrs each (good girls) Actually, Jordan was the only one that didn't have to have his water broke. He broke it himself. The girls' water had to be broken. I had the most problems with Hannah and I'm glad she was my last cause she would've been an only child otherwise. TeeHee

Re: Potty Training I was in labor with my daughter for about 26 hours. Only about 2 hours of hard labor. With my son my water broke at about 1 am and I had him at 10 pm. I wasn't going anywhere by 9 am so they gave me some pitocin. That was the worst ever. But by the time he was ready I only had to push about 4 times for a total of 5 minutes. The doctor almost wasn't there to catch him.
