| From annaamber200510 Post http://cavycages.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10803 She asks, "Is there a brand of water bottle that doesn't leak? Or are ther drip pans?" aqh88 replied. "You can place a brick or stone tile under the water bottle to catch the drips and let them evaporate instead of soaking the bedding." ------------------------ Well I thought this to be an excellent idea, since I, myself had one water bottle that was leaky. Shortly after reading aqh88 suggestion, I go out to my backyard and selected a brick before dressing to go to work. I brought it inside and gave it a good scrubbing with a brush and dish detergent. Still concerned that there might be parasites, or bacteria on the brick, I decided that it would be wise to place the brick in a large pot of water and boil it for 20 minutes. I added a few drops of dish soap to the water, turned the stove on, and went back to dressing for work. While preparing for work I couldn't locate my stethoscope and ended up searching high and low for it. Finally I realized that I had left it in my car. To make certain that it was indeed in the car I went into the garage to look inside the car. But, Somehow I managed to lock myself out of the house. We have two service dogs who were on the opposite side of the door. One is trained to open doors on verbal and hand commands. I gave the command for the dog to open the door, however the dog was confused for some reason, and had a difficult time following through. Finally, after several minutes she opens the door, and I enter the house only to be engulfed by a very strange smell. Then I remembered.....((((( The Brick in the Pot! ))))) All the water had boiled out of the pot and the pot was totally blacken on the bottom. Not Everyone Can Boil Water Without it Burning. Hee Hee I was able to salvage the brick, wish I could say the same for my pot. Oh, and by the way aqh88. The brick works wonderful for absorbing those extra drips from that leaky water bottle. Thanks for that tip. Can anyone think of a use for a burnt pot? ![]() |
